icipe has approximately 300 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
icipe’s Behavioural and Chemical Ecology Department seeks to urgently hire a dynamic and motivated Research Assistant to fill a position that will soon fall vacant. The position is based here at Duduville campus and is offered initially for a two year contract.

Duties and Responsibilities
The main functions of this position will comprise of among other things:
- To Isolate and characterize biologically active compounds.
- Test the efficiency of isolates in bioassays.
- Synthesize bioactive compounds and their analogues.
Requirements
- Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc) in Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Ecology from a recognized University.
- Have at least two years relevant working experience with adequate familiarity of GC, GC-MS, HPLC and spectroscopic techniques and insects.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Be computer literate and have some Statistical analytical background.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work with minimum supervision.
