MSH is recruiting for senior-level managers and technical experts for an anticipated procurement to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Kenya (GOK) to manage a high performing, sustainable, public-health-oriented laboratory service system. 
The goal of the project is to improve Kenya’s capacity in stewardship, technical guidance, and oversight to implement country-owned and-led quality integrated laboratory services.
All positions are based in Nairobi, Kenya, and are subject to project award and funding.
 The Project Director provides strategic, managerial, financial, technical leadership and oversight for the project. S/he is the official representative of MSH from the project and maintains all communication with appropriate donor officials, project partners, and local stakeholders to ensure adequate coordination of laboratory technical assistance.
 Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a Master’s level education or higher in international public health, biomedical science or equivalent related field; a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in management positions, implementing programs of similar size and scope in international health; a minimum of four (4) years management experience on USG or other donor funded programs supporting strengthening of national laboratory systems in developing countries, preferably with experience in Africa. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge and technical skills in the following key areas: laboratory leadership, management and governance; development and implementation of national laboratory policies, strategic plans, standards, guidelines, standard operating procedures and capacity building materials; laboratory information systems; laboratory equipment and supply management; quality systems and accreditation; infrastructure development; networking and referral systems; and biosafety.
Deputy Project Director / Technical Director The Technical Director /Deputy Project Director leads, directs, mentors and monitors the team of local technical staff carrying out approved activities to strengthen laboratory systems and services in Kenya in order to support and improve HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria programs.
 Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a medical or science degree, plus a higher qualification (Doctorate or Master’s level education) in clinical pathology, microbiology, international public health or related field. Training as a Clinical Pathologist, Laboratory Scientist or Public Health professional is essential, with at least eight (8) years’ experience at a senior level in managing clinical and public health laboratory projects.
Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor The Senior M&E Advisor is a core member of the project management team and is responsible for leading the development and implementation of a plan to monitor project performance and progress, assess the impact of the project activities on health service delivery, disease control and public health and reporting and dissemination of results.
 Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree, or higher, in public health, demography, epidemiology, program evaluation or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience at a senior level in the M&E field with development projects in international organizations, essential. Experience with PEPFAR or other US Government development programs is preferred.The Senior Financial Analyst performs analysis and provides management support for the assigned portfolio of projects, under the direction of the Project Director. To this end, he or she develops routine and ad hoc reports for appropriate project senior staff to ensure the regular flow of relevant and accurate financial information for decision making.
 Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business management with at least CPA Part II and four (4) to six (6) years’ of professional experience in financial analysis and management (or Master’s degree plus two (2) to four (4) years’ of professional experience). Job Description

One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; increasing the number of sub-locations, districts, and members we serve in each year.  

We are seeking a Logistics Data Analyst officer who will use a proprietary inventory management software (training offered upon hiring) to keep track of inventory movements across all of One Acre Fund Kenya's warehouses and stores. The Analyst will be asked to keep organized records and perform reconciliation of data where necessary.

Responsibilities

Data entry of weekly stock movements across 6+ warehouses across KenyaData analysis comparing stock cards, delivery notes, and other documentation to ensure accuracyWeekly reporting of inventory levels along with comprehensive understanding of stock movementsMaintain organized files of all stock cards, delivery notes, distribution sheets, purchase orders, and invoices for the logistics departmentPerform basic excel tasks using our client data to calculate purchase needs and distribution demandsThe logistics analyst will need to carry out a monthly 'inventory closing' and send this report to the supervisor.One Acre Fund invests in building management and leadership skills. We provide constant, actionable feedback delivered through weekly mentorship and through regular career reviews. We also have regular one-on-one meetings, where we listen to and discuss career goals, and work collaboratively to craft roles that employees are passionate about.

The Position

This position would be part of the team developing, piloting, assessing the impact of, and scaling-up index-based livestock insurance (IBLI) products. 

Two comprehensive pilots have already been launched in Marsabit district of Northern Kenya and Borena Zone in Southern Ethiopia (see www.ilri.org/ibli). 

 The successful applicant will play a central role in managing and coordinating the research operations for the team. 

The candidate will support team scientists with data analysis and writing to exploit the rich existing panel data and contribute to writing scientific papers. 

The IBLI project conducts two large annual household surveys in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia and several other specialized modules throughout the year. 

It also utilizes a suite of remotely sensed data.  This position also involves coordinating and supporting the implementation of these surveys and will be expected to contribute to survey and research as well as overseeing data cleaning and storage.

Key responsibilities

Provide research and analytical support to project scientists and contribute to research papersWrite research reports summarizing and analysing dataContribute to the IBLI research for development agenda (research design and strategy, survey instruments, sampling frame, survey implementation strategy, enumerator training, data collection and analysis).Oversee management of project data: data cleaning, data inventory and storage, data analysis.Writing and updating survey data codebooks that fully describe the research and survey design, data collection methods, cleaning and inventory process.Contribute to communication and dissemination of research findings, which should include participation in meetings and workshops, giving periodic presentations to participating institutions, and communicating to policy makers through web and popular media.A Master’s degree in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics or other relevant discipline.  Minimum 2 years of post-Master’s experience in quantitative and qualitative household-level socio-economic data collection and analysis; experience must involve field work and survey implementation as well as data analysis and report writing.Ability to clean, manage, and analyze household-level socio-economic panel data sets with statistical software including Stata. The successful candidate’s principal purpose will be the review and analysis of inventory accruals, inventory provisions and cost of production. The role holder will cost all locally manufactured products and serve as a Business Partner for the Global Manufacturing and Supply Department (GMS).

Key Responsibilities
• Reconcile all inventory control accounts (Goods In Transit, Finished Goods, Clearing accounts, Inventory Accruals)
• Maintain  provisions for all expired , slow-moving and obsolete stocks
• Maintain proper inventory deferrals for variances, Exchange Gains and Losses (EGOL) and Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
• Work out standard costs for all locally manufactured items.
• Analyze and review manufacturing variances and recoveries
• Compile and Circulate monthly GMS overheads and discuss major variances to plan with functional owners
• Prepare budgeting templates and provide budgeting support to GMS
• Review Unison actual numbers for GMS
• Submit the GMS Dashboard monthly and plan data
• Present GMS Financials to Senior Leadership Team in absence of GMS Financial Controller
 

Qualifications
• A business related degree and CPA (K) or ACCA qualification
• At least two years experience in inventory and financial analysis. Candidates who have experience within a manufacturing unit will have an added advantage.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, thorough knowledge of IFRS especially in relation to inventories, understanding of the standard costing process and theory.
• Refined ability to work under minimum supervision.
