Micro Lender Head of Credit Operations, Finance Manager, Branch Managers and Credit Officers Jobs in Kenya


1. Head of Credit Operations

Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer 

To manage the company’s credit risk management function efficiently and effectively and ensure adherence to credit policy and procedures. The main responsibilities of the role revolve around loan credit approvals, monitoring and controlling the company's loans and advances portfolio as well as debt collections and recovery.

Station: Based at the Head Office

Relationships: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Liaises with the Head of Finance, Head of Business Development, Debt Recovery Manager, Branch Managers & External service providers

Key Performance Areas

Credit policy formulation.Risk management: credit risk analysis and evaluation.Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.Undertake credit appraisal to vet credit proposals from branches.Monitoring and administration of credit performance.Ensure that the credit portfolio is measured, monitored and managed to achieve planned performanceEnsure that loan portfolio management is consistent with the stated risk appetite position, supported by sectoral, single borrower, tenor and other limits.Drive credit risk processes and systems to ensure they meet business needsManagement information system(MIS) including statutory returns Ensure sufficient credit resources with appropriate training and knowledge is aligned with the capacity needs of the business.Branch support and carry out inspection of credit/ lending issuesAny other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time by management.Effective internal control systems and procedures.Compliance with the company's policies and proceduresClear and well laid out credit strategies and operational plans.A growing loan portfolio as per agreed targetsAn effective follow-up plan on non performing loans to ensure recoveries.Timely and accurate (up to date)credit reports to guide management and board of directors in decision makingWell informed and trained staff on credit procedures and complianceCarry out performance appraisals against agreed targets for the team while accurately assessing individual strengths, developmental needs and accurate feedback.Accountable for the team’s compliance to regulations and the Microfinance/Banking policies and procedures.Bachelor’s degree in, Commerce, Business or Finance related field. Professional qualifications will be an added advantage.Computer skills, adept in use of ms word, Excel, Acess, Powerpoint, e-mail, internet and intranet.Basel II training, Financial/Credit risk and analysis training and other relevant credit training at an advanced level.From ten (10) years banking experience with at least 7 years Retail and Corporate Credit, or microfinnace experience with proven result track record.Job skills: understand the Microfinance/Banking Act and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and Prudential guidelines; high levels of professionalism and professional development.Understand and implement credit processes of different credit products.An all round Banker.Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity, confidentiality, and integrity when dealing with internal and external customers.Management and leadership ability: Have excellent interpersonal, organizing and people management skills.Personality: results oriented with excellent social skills and ability to interact across all levels of management. Purpose of the position

Reporting to the Country Managing Director, the jobholder will be responsible for providing effective and efficient management of all financial and accounting matters of the Company including the custody of the company’s funds and assets for the company operations in Kenya.

Requirements for Appointment

Bachelors degree CPA (K)Must be registered with Kenya Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)Computer Proficiency6 years experience, 3 of them in a supervisory level or validated experience.Establishing financial and management systems for effective implementation of organization’s goals and policies. Ensuring efficient revenue collection, disbursements, accounting and reports to the Managing Director.Preparing budgets and periodic financial performance reports for the Board’s consideration.Ensure timely and accurate reporting monthly, quarterly and annually on costs/revenue by cost centre and ensure regular updating of forecasts in the light of changes in costs and revenue.Prepare presentations for the company’s financial position to the Board of DirectorsRepresent the company in all negotiations with bank, finance companies and manufacturer’s representativeAdvising the Managing Director and the Board on the financial viability of proposed projects, products and investments.Ensuring compliance to international accounting standards on financial reporting by the Board.Ensuring complainace with contractual financial obligations. Debt Collection Officer

Reporting to Credit Officer

Will be responsible for developing and executing the Society’s recovery and debt collection efforts.Monitoring and rehabilitating delinquent accountsResponsible for maximizing recoveries from written off accounts.Monitor, coordinate all branches in sending notices to delinquent members and make prompt follow ups on the same.Work closely with debt collection agencies to maximize recoveries.Expected to maintain a low net bad debt and being resourceful in using different tactics in getting recoveries and handle different or difficult situations when necessary.Ensure company debts are recovered on time and efficiently.Develop relationships with the police, local administration and other government agencies necessary to aid collection.Coordinate daily execution of debt follow up by phone, visits and recovery.Oversee disposal of recovered assets.Responsible of negotiating repayment plans with delinquent members.Tracing missing debtorsTo maintain an updated database of all assigned accounts and collections done with specific dates.Represent the Sacco in court in matters of Debt Disputes.Must be aged between 28 – 40 years.At least a diploma in credit management from a recognized Institution, however a degree will be an added advantage.At least two years experience in debt collection, preferably in a SaccoPossess strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.Should be a self motivated team player who enjoys negotiating with customers for win-win situations.Must have proven ability to develop relationships with agencies necessary to make recovery work successfully.Must have ability to work with strict deadlinesGood negotiation and mathematical skills are also required.Administrative and computer skills required2) Micro Finance Officer
