To celebrate Kenya’s Jubilee year - 50 years since independence! - we’re inviting schoolchildren across the country to create their own “Google doodle” by taking part in the Doodle 4 Google “My Kenya” competition.

The winning student will have their doodle appear on the Google Kenya homepage
for 24 hours in September 2013.
They will also receive a Ksh. 800,000 school fee scholarship, a Ksh. 800,000 technology grant for their school, and tablet devices for their teachers.Finalists will receive prizes including mobile and tablet devices, certificates, and a trip to the awards ceremony.
Submissions are due August 2nd 2013

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is a state corporation mandated to market and promote Kenya as a preferred Tourism destination, locally, and internationally ,one of the ways through which KTB achieves its objectives is by participating in travel trade shows and exhibitions in the source markets.
These events provide a platform on which Kenya showcases her product offering and an opportunity for face-to-face interaction with both the travel trade and the end consumer/traveler.
 2. Destination Exhibition Wear objective
To enhance Kenya’s tourism brand identity and the image of Kenya as a country brand and communicate Kenya’s distinct destination brand during trade shows and exhibitions by wearing distinct exhibition wear. To this extend the Board and private sector commissioned the creation of a fresh new Exhibition Wear in line with our desire to ensure that Kenya is positioned as a preferred tourism destination.The proposed theme of the Exhibition Wear should enjoy a reasonable degree of longevity and at the same time remain relevant in an ever changing apparel industry. Accessories will be an additional value-adding aspect.
4. Entry for the Design Competition
Entry is opened to firms, individuals and group of individuals not exceeding 8 (eight)
For the best design of Exhibition Wear, there are cash prizes that shall be awarded as detailed in the design brief.
The detailed scope of the Exhibition Wear brief shall be as provided in the bid document.
A complete set of design brief may be obtained by interested candidates from the procurement office on 8th floor Free of Charge at Kenya Tourism Board Headquarters, Kenya Re Towers, Upper Hill, Off Ragati Road, during working hours, i.e. Monday to Friday between 8.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m.-5.00 p.m. W. e. f Thursday 27th June, 2013.
Design proposals are to be enclosed in a plain sealed envelopes clearly marked “REQUEST FOR DESIGNS FOR KENYA TOURISM BOARD EXHIBITION WEAR – KTB/EOI/001/2012-2013” and be deposited in the tender box provided at Kenya Tourism Board Offices, 7th floor, Kenya Re Towers, off Ragati Road, Upper Hill, Nairobi addressed to:

In line with the constitution of Kenya 2010 and County Government Act No 17 of 2012, section (4), the office of the Governor wishes to invite the public to participate in the design of County Government of Kiambu Flag, Court of Arms and slogan and public seal.
 The logo should bear the following conditions:-Capture the main physical and social – economic and cultural activitiesBear the name: County Government of KiambuBe original in nature and must not infringe on any copyBe done using the common design program with a scale / size 28*20 and graphic resolution of 1280*768Entrants must be Kenyan citizens preferably Youths. Residents of Kiambu County including students are highly encouraged to participate. However, if a student wins the cash prize, the same will be paid through the guardian or school administration.
(i) Submission of the designs must be in both hard and soft copies.
(ii) Entrants must not submit more than one entry in each category.
(iii) There is no participation fee.
(iv) Once a winner has been selected and awarded, the County Government of Kiambu shall retain copyright and intellectual property rights.
The winners in each category will be awarded as follows:-County Flag Winner KShs. 100,000 1st Runners up to KShs. 50,000County Coat of Arms, Slogan and the seal Winner KShs. 100,000 1st Runners up to KShs. 50,000Note: By submitting the Logo, you agree to transfer copyrights of the design to the County Government of Kiambu.
The proposed Logo designs with a soft copy should be enclosed in a plain envelope marked “DESIGN OF A NEW LOGO FOR THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KIAMBU” and addressed to the undersigned, or be deposited in the Tender BOX at the County Headquarters First Floor , Room 140 on or before 2nd August 2013 at 12.00 noon.

In line with the constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Government Act No.17 of 2012, section (4), the office of the Governor wishes to invite the public to participate in the design of County Government of Nyamira Flag, Court of Arms and Slogan and Public Seal.
 The logo should bear the following conditions;-Capture the main physical and social-economic and cultural activitiesBear the name: County Government of NyamiraBe original in nature and must not infringe on any copyrights and shall not be the same as or be a likeness or Similar to a national symbolBe done using the common design program with a scale/size 28*20 and graphic resolution of 300 PixelsEntrants must be Kenyan citizen. Residents of Nyamira County including students who are encouraged to participate. However, if student wins the cash prize, the same will be paid through the guardian or school administration.
 i. Submission of the designs must be in both hard and soft copies
ii. Entrants must not submit more than one entry in each category
iii. There is no participation fee

GVEP International Grants Competition for Distributors of Modern Off-Grid Lighting Products in Kenya


Grants Competition for Distributors of Modern Off-Grid Lighting Products in Kenya
GVEP, the Global Village Energy Partnership, intends to give scale up grants competitively to distributors of modern off-grid lighting products in Kenya, with funding from the Russian Federation administered by the World Bank.
Distributors of off-grid lighting products can apply for financing of up to US$150,000 that will be awarded on a competitive basis based on the merits of the applicants’ scale up plans. Grants will be performance-based and disbursements subject to evidence of key milestones being met.
Applicants must be privately held enterprises registered in Kenya, which have been trading for at least 1 year in off-grid lighting products that have passed the Lighting Global Minimum Quality Standards. The firm must also have a minimum yearly turnover of US$50,000.
Interested firms are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to GVEP by July 1st 2013.
The EOI must prove that the firm meets the eligibility criteria and show how it will deploy the grant funding in accordance to the company’s strategy, planned activities and targets.
Eligible applicants will thereafter be invited to submit a full proposal with a detailed activity plan, budget and financial model that shows the commercial viability of the business plan.
GVEP is an international NGO that supports the growth of energy-focused micro, small and medium sized enterprises, as a means to drive economic prosperity and contribute to energy access especially to people living in poverty. A key element of this work is to link the energy businesses that we support to finance in the form of loans, capital investments and smart grants.
