Reporting

The Administrative Assistant reports to the Finance and Administration Officer.

Duties

Objective: To ensure efficient and effective Administrative operations

Functions & Responsibilities: Provision of secretarial and office management services

Activities
  • To advise FAO on administrative matters
  • To supervise and appraise the immediate officers under him/her
  • To provide secretarial and office management services including maintaining Director’s diary and drafting of management meeting minutes
Functions & Responsibilities: Undertaking logistics for official travel and hospitality

Activities
  • To maintain personnel records
  • To coordinate periodic personnel performance assessment/appraisal performance reports
  • To manage official correspondences
  • To undertake procurement of goods and services
  • To organize official meetings/conferences, workshops and seminars
  • To maintain open registry
  • To undertake all reception duties
  • To maintain inventory, issue and distribute office supplies
  • To assist in making travel arrangements, and hotel bookings/provision of hospitality
  • To perform other duties as may be determined by management.

The General Manager position

We are seeking to fill the position with an experienced leader who has an entrepreneurial mind, is a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator able to operate in a diverse multi-cultural and dynamic private and public sector environment.

Reporting to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and based in our Nairobi Office, the General Manager will be responsible for the growth and development of the Company and will be expected to among other things:
  • Develop and recommend for approval business proposals, plans, budgets, guidelines and ensure effective and efficient implementation of the agreed decisions.
  • Set up the business cycle and ensuring that operations are being executed in accordance with the approved policies and procedures.
  • Establish internal monitoring and control systems, processes and procedures for the Company.
  • Plan, coordinate and control daily operations of the organisation.
  • Review operations results of the Company against established objectives and targets and taking remedial action on unsatisfactory results.
  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the organisation.
  • Effectively manage the staff of the organisation, set performance standards, monitor, guide, train, develop and discipline.
Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a holder of a University Degree in Education, Commerce, Social Sciences or Languages and Linguistics with leadership experience in the service and hospitality industry or the private education sector.

He/she should be a self-confident, pragmatic, innovative, visionary and transformative leader with exceptional communication skills, interpersonal skills, an analytical mind, problem solving skills and the ability to anticipate future client needs.

They should be very knowledgeable in the service and hospitality industry with a personal entrepreneurial drive, a calculated risk taker with a win-win-win approach to business and stakeholder management.

International exposure and experience in dealing with multi-cultural and multi-racial teams will be an added advantage.

The position is on a three (3) year renewable contract based on annual performance reviews.

Duties and Responsibilities
Field Interpreters work for the Court Interpretation and Translation Section of the Registry and/or the Language Services Unit of the Office of the Prosecutor.
The successful candidates will be expected to:
(a) provide consecutive interpretation on mission;
(b) prepare thoroughly for the above assignments;
(c) observe established terminology and in-house usage, and identify new terminology;
(d) carry out basic translation duties whilst on mission, where necessary;
(e) take part in refresher training sessions with a view to refining his/her interpreting skills; and
(f) perform other language services as required by the heads of the two language services of the Court.
Qualifications and Experience


Successful candidates must:
(a) possess the ability to work as part of a team;
(b) demonstrate flexibility, initiative and willingness to learn new skills;
(c) possess a knowledge of relevant computer software including word-processing programs; and
(d) be available, at times, on short notice; and would preferably though not necessarily:

  • possess a degree in interpretation, translation, linguistics or law or in any other relevant subject matter; and
  • have relevant experience in interpretation on a formal basis, preferably in an international organisation.
Knowledge of Languages
  • Mother tongue proficiency in Kikuyu(1), Luhya(2), Luo,(3) Kalenjin(4) or Swahili and excellent English and/or French are required.
  • A working knowledge of one of the other official languages of the Court is desirable.
  • Short-listed candidates will be invited to take the ICC accreditation test which consists essentially of an interview and an interpretation test.
  • Accreditation is, however, subject to obtaining security and medical clearance.
  • Successful candidates will then be placed on a roster, although they should bear in mind that their deployment will depend on their suitability for a particular mission based on their personal profile and the objectives of the said mission.
  • If suitable for deployment, Field Interpreters will then be contracted on a freelance basis for the mission.
