(i) A Bachelors’ degree in Economics, (Economics/Mathematics or Economics/Statistics) from a recognized University;

(iii) Served satisfactorily as an Economist/Statistician/Policy analyst for at least 5years three (3) years of which should have been at the level of Job Group ‘M’ and above or a comparable and relevant position in the Public or Private Sector;

(iv) Knowledge and understanding of the various policy reforms in the Education Sector.

GeSCI is seeking an experienced researcher/analyst with a Master’s degree in Social Sciences in one of the Knowledge Society domains of ICT, Education, Science and Technology (S&T). The person is expected to contribute to and support GeSCI programmes as a researcher/analyst.

The researcher/analyst will work closely with the GeSCI international and local staff in a collaborative team environment.

The researcher/analyst will be mainly responsible for supporting multi-disciplinary programmatic activities primarily in the ALICT programme, but will also provide support across a number of existing programmes and new programmes by :
  • undertaking a variety of high level analyses/studies for decision making, strategic planning, programme development, scenario building and forecasting purposes;
  • conducting needs assessments, gap analyses, stakeholder engagement and scenario analyses for various contexts, countries and sub-regions; developing instruments for various analyses/studies;
  • collecting information from a variety of sources using appropriate methods/techniques;
  • evaluating research results to identify trends, patterns, tendencies and relationships;
  • interpreting and extracting data as required by programmes; and developing reports as needed.
  • He/she will work closely with programme teams both in Kenya as well as in GeSCI programme countries.
Key requirements for the role are:
  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences or other relevant field or in one of the Knowledge Society domains of ICT, Education, Science and Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional research/analytical experience
  • Proven track record of analytical based project work with experience interpreting and manipulating statistical information, producing clear and concise reports to programme management
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at various levels within the organization and external partners and stakeholders
  • Skilled in research and computer software including internet-based research, spreadsheets, databases
  • Good time management and organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams

Uwazi collects new and existing data in order to create exciting products that inform citizens, newspapers and parliamentarians. Uwazi aims to enhance transparency and public accountability by making existing data more accessible and informative.

For its work in Kenya, Uwazi is looking for a highly skilled and motivated analyst.

The analyst is expected to:
  • Manage the Wananchi Survey. This survey is a unique combination of a representative baseline survey with weekly additional data collection using mobile phones. The Wananchi survey allows for weekly opinion polling and high frequency monitoring of public services. Managing the Wananchi survey entails identifying questions for the following week’s data collection, supervision and quality control of ongoing data collection (outsourced to a firm), preparing a report on data collected the previous week and disseminating this information through the Uwazi website and media.
  • Prepare information products, briefs, league tables, website contributions, and newspaper articles.
  • Oversee the generation of regular Uwazi products such as the Did you knows, The Auditor General Speaks etc;
  • Supervise interns and consultants

For this job Uwazi is looking for a motivated person who:
  • Is able to carry out original analyses using micro-data sets;

The World Bank together with 10 Development Partners is providing budget support to the Government of Uganda under a Joint Budget Support Framework. In partnership with the Government of Uganda, the JBSF Development Partners are committed to providing budget support on an annual basis against a jointly-agreed Joint Performance Assessment Framework (JAF). To support the administrative and technical work of the development partners that underpins the JBSF, a Technical and Administrative Support Unit (TASU) is being established, to be financed through a multi-donor trust fund with contributions from the participating development partners. The unit will provide high quality technical/research analysis, which will lay the basis for informed policy design, as well as providing administrative and logistical support to the JBSF Technical and Policy Dialogue Taskforce.     Summary:

    EDC seeks a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to lead evaluation assessments, and oversee the development of a data collection and management system for a USAID-funded youth project. The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will have principle responsibility for facilitating all aspects of monitoring and evaluation and will take the lead in planning for, conducting and reporting on all M&E activities of the project. Population Services International is in partnership with United States Pharmacopeia and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in this 7-country project.
    ACTwatch is currently looking to expand its research team and is looking to fill the post of a Senior Research Associate in its Nairobi Office.
    Reporting to the Project Coordinator, this position works as a part of a team and oversees data analysis activities for household (treatment seeking behavior) and outlet survey (price, availability, volumes in the formal and informal sectors). This includes managing the analysis process to ensure that data is of good quality and can be compared across countries. The Senior Research Associate will be guided by a set of SOPs but will be expected to identify problems and find solutions that will be documented. In addition to conducting analysis and report writing, this person is responsible for data management of ACTwatch Central and guiding research associates through analysis. This person will also serve as a resource for dissemination and supporting countries in field work activities. There is an opportunity to contribute to and participate in writing manuscripts for publication.

    Position Description:

    Qualifications:
    • Post graduate degree (MSc, MPH, etc.) in statistics, demography, epidemiology or other related field
    • Excellent knowledge of STATA, SPSS and advanced data manipulation and analysis skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative research methods and market research, preferably related to malaria with a minimum of five years work experience
    • Previous experience conducting quantitative field research (training, supervision, quality assurance) and capacity-building
    • Familiarity with antimalarial medicines, dosing formulations and generic/brand names preferred
    • Expertise in using GPS equipment to capture spatial data
    • Excellent written and verbal English for the development of reports, tables and presentations. Ideal candidate writes and speaks French.
    • Sound organizational and communication skills.
    The successful candidate must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
