Through this, offgrid households receive modern light, can charge their mobile phones and are able to use other modern appliances such as TVs, radios, computers, etc. The outfit is pursuing a profitable business model and is expanding rapidly in Tanzania. The client is a fast growing, well funded, high potential venture business, based across East Africa and Ghana that is run by a strong team of experienced professionals.
The business seeks to complement its senior management team in Tanzania. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly talented individual to contribute to and own part of one of the most promising companies in the energy access sector in Africa.

Job Title: Head of Energy Services Division

Job Summary: As Head of Enserve (Energy Services division) the incumbent will coordinate Sales, Marketing and Distribution for East Africa. The Head of Enserve has two primary responsibilities: growing the customer base and ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction. 
These responsibilities include development of new markets, defining products and service offerings, development and management of agent and customer service network and brand development. The position starts in January 2014.

Type of Hire: Local / Expatriate

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; frequent national and some international travel will be required.

Salary: The compensation is negotiable, including an equity component in line with typical venture businesses.
 

Growing the customer base; identifying and enlisting new villages for installation of microgrids,Manage marketing campaignsRecruit, train and manage agent network. The agent networks main tasks are:Signup customers for services and appliance sales/leasing Install meters and plugnplay appliancesOngoing sale of prepaid servicesIdentify customer demand and provide feedback to improve offeringsMeasure division performance and report to CEOThe following Key Performance Metrics (KPMs) will be used to evaluate the performance of the division:

Preferred Qualifications:

Individual Consultant (Financial Management Specialist)
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Kenya Electricity Expansion Project (KEEP), and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include among other things: Maintaining efficient and effective financial management policies, systems and procedures; a sound financial and accounting system in accordance with GOK procedures and annually prepare the project’s accounts in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards to meet the reporting obligations.
The objective of this consultancy will be to improve the technical capacity in managing and maintaining a sound financial and accounting system for KEEP within the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum now invites eligible individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above services, by submitting a Curriculum Vitae and a one-page expression of interest. Qualified consultants will be a Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant with at least a first degree in accounting or finance from a recognized University and have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience; experience in the public service and donor funded projects is preferable.
A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s  Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004, revised May 2010).

Financial Management Specialist

The Government of Kenya (GoK) in conjunction with the World Bank is implementing the Kenya Electricity Expansion Project (KEEP) whose development objectives are: (a) increase the capacity, efficiency and quality of electricity supply; and (b) expand access to electricity in urban, peri-urban and rural areas.
To assist in the administrative responsibility for the day to day operations of the project, a Project
Implementation Team (PIT) has been established under the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and reports to the Project Coordinator.
We are looking for a highly motivated Kenyan to fill the post of Financial Management Specialist (FMS) on a one year contract (Renewable).
Working closely with the Ministry’s project accountant as part of knowledge transfer, the main responsibilities of the FMS will be to:Maintain efficient and effective financial management policies, systems and procedures for the KEEP in order to ensure that all project resources and finances are properly managed and controlled.Maintain a sound financial and accounting system in accordance with GOK procedures and annually prepare the projects accounts in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards to meet the Project’s reporting obligations.Monitor disbursements of the credit, and prepare withdrawal applications, including required supporting documentation.Prepare projected cash flows and reports, budgets, and other financial reports on the project required for effective control of the budget.Ensure that all books and financial reports are prepared accurately and audited in a timely manner, help accommodate audit undertaken by the Kenya National Audit Office (KENAO), and advise on corrective action as well as future prevention of any accounting, procurement, and financial management mistakes, errors or shortcomings.Prepare monthly Government reporting returns, quarterly unaudited Interim Financial Reports (IFRs) and annual project financial and ensure that they are submitted within the stipulated deadlinesPerform any other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.Qualifications, Skills and Experience
