Scholarship to Attend the Women’s Peacebuilding Leadership Program at Eastern Mennonite University, Virginia, USA
USAID Kenya and USAID East Africa are offering eight scholarships to qualified Kenyan women from conflict-affected communities to attend the Women’s Peacebuilding Leadership Program at Eastern Mennonite University in the USA. Those chosen for this program will study for a Graduate Certificate in Peacebuilding Leadership. 
Courses in this program will teach peacebuilding and leadership theory along with practical skills, and includes a strong mentoring program to assist students to enhance their peacebuilding efforts within Kenya. The program is targeting women peacebuilding practitioners who are recognized in their community as possessing leadership potential and dedication to their community.
The program will include three short courses in the US in May and June, 2014; and two short courses in the East Africa region in June 2015. Both academic and practical peacebuilding work are required in the time between the courses. The coursework will be completed by December, 2015, at which time the Graduate Certificates will be awarded. Students accepted into this program must be available for six weeks during May and June, 2014, for three weeks during June, 2015, and one week in December, 2015.
The Center for Justice and Peace building (CJP) at Eastern Mennonite University equips and sustains
individuals, groups and communities to work for justice and peace through education, training, practice and research. The program prepares students to creatively work for long-term sustained, structural change, whether in an organization or community or on a large-scale level.
Interested candidates must possess the following qualifications.Must be a Kenyan citizen from conflict-affected communities.A 4-year undergraduate degree, preferably in the social sciences. Candidates who do not meet these criteria but have undergraduate work of at least two years and have extensive peacebuilding experience may be considered.Applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 (based on a four-point scale).A TOEFL score of 550, or an IELTS score of 6.5 are required. Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelors of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) Degree from a recognized University, be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and have Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certification in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) and Advanced Trauma Life Support will be an added advantage. He/she should have 3 years clinical practice, of which 1 year should be in Critical Care.
Human Resource Manager – Learning & Talent

Reporting to the Nursing Officer Theatre the person will provide high standard of nursing care to all clients in line with the hospital’s policies and procedures while serving in Theatre.
Key Responsibilities Delivering a professional and high standard of nursing care within the section.Inducting new staffs at the section level.Maintaining good communication within the section and other sections to provide unified approach to patient care.Implementing health and safety regulations and  policies and procedure.Administering prescribed treatment to patients as necessary. Ensuring accurate information is relayed to clinical staff on a patient’s condition.Responding to and reporting any abnormal recordings to the person in charge.Implementing emergency procedure including resuscitation as and when necessary. Ensuring all procedures in theatre are carried out as required and that doctors get the nursing support required.Ensuring patients are provided with relevant health education and follow up care.Participating in continuous medical education.Ensuring proper documentation, maintaining proper records, confidentiality, and handing over between shifts at all times.Person Specification

Medical Officer in Charge (MOIC)Reporting to the Unit General Manager the person will coordinate the provision of quality and timely clinical case management for patients within the hospital branches in accordance with the organization’s standards of care.Develop and implement comprehensive medical services policies, protocols and programmes that will lead to the achievement of quality patient care and growth.Formulate and continuously review and administer clinical protocols, policies and standards to foster appropriate and consistent patient care.Coordinate the development and implementation of effective patient care management programs to enhance clinical outcomes.Undertake shift planning and rota management for medical officers ensuring the unit has adequate clinical cover at all times.Ensure medical officers practice evidence based medicine in line with the set clinical protocols.Providing patient care management and as a member of a multidisciplinary team ensure the best care is given to patients.Facilitate workshops and other teachings programmes including medical camps.Coordinating medical officer attending court cases relating to Gender Violence Patients.
