Cost Accountant, Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Checkers Jobs in Kenya


A Manufacturing Company based at Kitengela is looking for a high caliber and motivated persons to fill the posts of Cost Accountant, Quality Assurance Manager, and Quality Checkers. The following are the requirements for each of the positions;

Position:- Cost Accountant

Reporting to:- The Managing Director

Position Summary:

Functions as a business support person to the plant and financial management team. 

Responsible for plant level costs and control including cost accounting, bill of material audits, and cost analysis.

Supports month-end close and special projects as requested. Works closely with manufacturing to understand issues and how they impact the financial results as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost drivers and variances. Also act as liaison with corporate financial staff, as required.

Main Duties:

Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer typeAssist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forwardPrepare collateral reportingCoordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development such as production, purchasing, import/export, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import/export IT, receiving, shipping, and other.Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventoriesMaintain internal control documentation and test internal controlsPrepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by divisionReview and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitabilityWork in special projects as requiredSupport and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and othersEnsure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.Analyzing data collected and recording resultsAnalyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on costAnalyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costsRecording cost information for use in controlling expendituresAnalyzing audits of costs and preparing reportsMaking estimates of new and proposed product costsProviding management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.Maintaining Cost Accounting SystemAssisting in Month end close of the General Ledger Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count programReconciles finished goods inventoriesAnalyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against Standard/Budget. Job Summary: Assures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good automated manufacturing practice (GAMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation and managing staff.

Persons who have worked as Quality Checkers and have at least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.


Diploma in Engineering and certification in Quality Assurance is highly recommended

Heifer International Project Accountant Job in Nairobi Kenya

Summary: Our Client Heifer International is a global nonprofit humanitarian development organization dedicated to ending hunger and poverty and caring for the Earth by empowering small holder farm families around the globe to become self reliant and attain sustainable livelihood through economically viable animal agricultural enterprise.

Dairy value chain development is one of the key inventions of Heifer International in the East Africa region and Kenya in particular. The intervention has been implemented through a major umbrella project, the East African Dairy Development project (EADD) which started in 2008 with the objective of doubling household dairy incomes.  
The five year pilot project which has just ended (EADD-1) was implemented by a consortium of five partners including Heifer International (the lead partner), Technoserve, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), and African Breeders Services-Total Cattle Management. The project is now embarking on the second phase, EADD-2.

In Kenya, the second phase of the project will adopt a more private sector led strategy with the overall objective of building significant partnerships with public and private organizations for co-funding, innovative design and overall project expansion. 

In addition to focusing on institutional capacity building to potential partner institutions, the project will also pilot innovative techniques and approaches in the industry to provide important lessons on improving dairy cattle feeding, breeding and animal health practices.

Function: The Project Accountant will work with the programs teams to maintain financial integrity and ensure sound financial management of the country programs.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the submission of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual finance reports and financial statements and interpret variance reports and expenditure analysis to staff and projectsManage the program/project cash flow including reviewing  payment requests, monitoring the petty cash imprest, checking bank reconciliations, etcManage payroll processing and tax filing activities Support producer organizations with accounting matters and assess how project funds are utilized. Ensure that all transactions are in line with government laws. Conduct training and staff development workshops with the accountant’s team in order to maintain a high standard of reporting. Prepare, coordinate, and monitor the project budget. Check the bank reconciliations every month and forward them to the Finance and Administration Manager for approval.Ensure compliance with accounting principles and standards including HPI Partners, donors, local, and HQ cost principles. Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid (HIJRA) is a humanitarian and development organization that aims to positively contribute towards improving the living standards and conditions of those adversely affected by disasters and conflict in the East and Horn of Africa. Our work involves provision of clean and accessible water supply, sanitation facilities, promotion of health/hygiene, food security and education programs. HIJRA is dedicated and committed to reconstruction of community livelihoods through its direct contacts with the communities.   This position will report to the Officer in Charge. The incumbent will maintain proper coordination in the Finance and Administration and effectively provide leadership in the implementation of strategic objectives of Finance and Administration within the organization. The position holder will also work closely with the Procurement and Logistics Officer to ensure that those activities are carried out within the set parameters
S/he/ will be expected to achieve utmost efficiency by constantly reviewing work processes and work flow within the finance office.
 Post holder will be responsible for:Manage financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systemsProduce accurate financial reports generated from the financial management systems to specific deadlines Ensure the project reports are accurate and timely and they are provided to the supervisor on a timely manner for further review and submission to the management and donors/partnersEffectively participate in the budget preparation and manage the monitoring and approval of budgets versus expenses thereby ensuring accurate accounting, authorization and internal control proceduresCo-ordinate the preparation of the monthly financial results and ensure effective communication of results to the managementManage the reconciliation of the bank accounts within the system, confirm the accuracy and clarity by the 5th of every month Coordinate the documentation of all the project implementation information and ensure submission of the relevant documents together with weekly reports to Nairobi. Manage Accounts Payables and Receivable including the inter-office offset (customer) accountsOn weekly basis, reconcile all the ledger accounts to confirm the accuracy, and appropriateness of the transactionsMonitor and interpret cash flows and predict future trendsEnsure all financial documents are correct and in line with partner agreements Confirm the accuracy and relevance of the data posted within the procurement/logistic system and liaise with the procurement and logistics section to ensure accuracy and timeliness of relevant reports. Ensure that reports generated from the financial management systems are in line with the specific project BMRs and the Narrative reports prepared by the program staff. Confirm the accuracy of the receipt and movement of the procured items in coordination with the Logistics Officer.Keep an updated supplier file that shows the current pre-qualified suppliers, their profile, contracts and other related informationConduct weekly comprehensive checks to ensure that the documents from the various projects are received within the time required and the supporting documents are in line with the set policies and proceduresDevelop a reporting schedule and ensure all monthly reports are completed and submitted to the OIC  for further  review and subsequent submission to the Kenya officePerforms all the year-end functions on the accounts and participate in the Audit facilitationSupervise the staff in the finance departmentQualifications & Requirements
