Title: Fundraising Officer, Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) Secretariat


Accountable to: Program Manager of Parenting in Africa Network (PAN)



Type of Contract: Renewable fixed term of one year

Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya



Job Purpose



The Fundraising Officer will lead and coordinate the fundraising activities of the Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) under the overall supervision of its steering committee and in close consultation with The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) and the Africa Regional office of International Child Support (ICS).



Responsibilities



1. Programme Support



•Prepare and execute the fundraising strategy of the Network.

•Assist the Senior Programme Manager with developing and editing project proposals in order to mobilize the required resources.

•Continuously improve the effectiveness of the fundraising strategy of the Network

•Prepare quarterly progress reports for internal and external consumption.

•Liaise with Multi-media and advocacy specialist for profile-raising events of the Network.

2. Fundraising



•Establish and maintain positive relationships with donors.

•Develop and maintain comprehensive donors’ data base.

•Pursue actively, innovative ways of cooperation with donors for funding opportunities.

•Planning, organizing and coordinating profile raising and fund raising events.

•Identify potential donors and trusts, writing and submitting funding proposals.

•Organize and implement exciting fundraising events in various PAN partner countries for example dinner parties, legal events, charity balls and exhibitions etc.

•Raise awareness plus increase our funds on parenting projects.

3. Research



•Identify, analyze and respond to new funding opportunities from foundations, individuals, private companies and international cooperation agencies.

•Maintain strong fundraising base with diversified sources of funding.

•Research and learn the specific guidelines for each donor category for request of grants and donor reports.

•Research and implement a cost effective Income Generating Activity that would bring funds into the charity to utilize in PAN projects and enable a level of self sustainability for the Network.



4. Donor Relation



•Develop and maintain productive relationships with Pan-African Institutions including the AU, civil society and bilateral and multilateral organizations.

•Compile the required financial plans and reports to donors and partners.

•Send regular updates (information, newsletter, invitations) to core funding donors.

5. Undertake any other tasks needed to promote the Network’s objectives and work, and as directed by the Program Manager.



Requirements



•University degree preferably in Public Relations, Communications or a relevant field.

•At least 3 years of relevant experience in an international setting as a fundraising professional

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•Excellent presentation skills

•Experience with the administrative, financial and programmatic aspects of fundraising

•Good command of the English language, with strong writing and editorial skills

•Ability to learn quickly and work proactively.
