Title: Multi-Media and Advocacy Specialist, Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) Secretariat




Accountable to: Program Manager of Parenting in Africa Network (PAN)



Type of Contract: Renewable fixed term of one year



Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya



Job Purpose



The Multi-Media and Advocacy Specialist will plan, develop and coordinate internal and external communication of the Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) under the overall supervision of the steering committee of the Parenting in Africa Network (PAN) and in close consultation with The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) and the Africa Regional office of International Child Support (ICS).



Responsibilities



1. Programme Support:



•Design and produce communication materials for various events of the Network.

•Promote the Network within Africa and beyond.

•Oversee the editing, publication and distribution of the Network’s publications.

•Build staff understanding and support for multimedia strategies.

•Create and disseminate short compelling videos to promote PAN programmes.

2. Advocacy:



•Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of the Network’s advocacy programs.

•Develop and disseminate advocacy materials in different forms.

•Prepare relevant information notes and documentation of the project.

•Ensure sufficient and timely flow of information and report to the steering committee, partner institutions and members of the Network.

3. Website design and Maintenance



•Manage the maintenance and operation of the “Parenting in Africa” website, including administering the discussion forum.

•Coordinate the publication and dissemination of e-newsletter of the Network, including sourcing and editing of articles.

•Document digitally events of the Network.

•Maintain and monitor use of website by visitors and participants on discussion forum.

4. Corporate Communication:



•Develop media strategy, drafts press releases and respond to press enquiries.

•Develop and maintain productive relationships with Pan-African Institutions including the AU, civil society and bilateral and multilateral organizations.

•Work with the media on raising awareness on issues regarding parenting in Africa.

5. Undertake other tasks needed to promote the Network’s objectives and work, and as directed by the Program Manager.



Requirements



•University degree in Mass communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Humanities or Social Sciences

•Post Graduate training in Public Relations, Marketing and /Journalism

•Proven track record in Public Relations and Communication activities in a large sized organization

•Experience on photography and videography skills will be an added advantage

•2 - 3 years of experience in the field of communications
