Organizational background
The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food co-ordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the National IT Officer, Infrastructure and IT support and the overall supervision of ICT Unit Head, the incumbent undertakes the following responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for all electricity services the  World Food Programme  is using in the field, including electrical wiring, generators, UPSes, voltage regulators, solar systems and wind generators.
  • Plan, design, install and maintain electrical systems for WFP offices in Somalia Sub-Offices and Country Office (Nairobi).
  • Implement electrical norms and standards for all electricity services and installations, including wiring, measuring, sizing the equipment.
  • Supervise contracted services for the installation and maintenance of the electrical installations for all WFP offices and warehouses in Somalia and ensuring a safe and reliable working environment.
  • Provide advice to the Procurement Unit when tendering for electricity services for WFP office and sub-offices.
  • Co-ordinate any required external contracting, servicing or intervention needed for any electrical installation.
  • Carry-out repairs of electrical and electronic  appliance like, telephones, UPS, Air conditions, freezer, power regulators, electrical wiring of offices and warehouses,.
  • Perform office wiring services for data and Local Area Network
  • Ensuring electrical protection of offices installations and equipment including over voltage and lightening  protection
  • Perform other related duties as required.
 
Minimum qualifications:  
        Education:  Satisfactory completion of secondary school education and additional education in the area of electrical/electronic engineering.
        Experience:  At least three years of progressively responsible and proven effective, hands-on electrical or electronics experience. 
        Knowledge:  Basic computer skills including keyboard/mouse skills and knowledge of common basic software packages, commonly used office equipment, cooling systems and solar systems.
        Language:  Fluency in both oral and written English.
        Desirable skills:  Organized and precise records and well analyzed data with minimal supervision, moderately complex operational problems resolved or brought to the attention of the appropriate person for resolution.
