Field Enumerators Vacancies - Safe Water and AIDS Programme (SWAP)


The Safe Water and AIDS Programme (SWAP) is a non-governmental organization based in Western Kenya that engages community support and self-help groups to promote and sell water treatment and other health products as an income generating activity that also benefits the wider community.

Our mission is to facilitate access to safe water, reduce disease burden and increase income through water treatment at household level, infection prevention/control and enhance access to microfinance services among the SWAP targeted communities. SWAP has a research component that collaborates with Center for Diseases & Control –Atlanta (CDC). The research component has been engaged in various research projects in western Kenya. The research component has vacancies for enumerators and FGD moderators.

The positions will be for a behavior change study in Vihiga Division, Vihiga District in Western Province.

Position: Field Enumerators (3 Positions)
Location: Vihiga Division, Vihiga District
Language: proficient Luhya, Swahili & English
Education: O’ level C- (minimum)

Essential Requirements
  • Certificate in computer application, Information Systems management or other related field
  • Experience in data collection using PDAs will be an added advantage
  • Resident of Vihiga Division
Desirable Skills
  • Excellent social. Interpersonal, communication and listening skills, open minded and non judgmental, well organized
  • Ability to work well independently as a member of a team
  • Ability to work well within laid down standards of operation procedures
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology quickly
  • Attention to details, precision and good work rate with good work ethics
  • Flexible and easily adapts to changing conditions and dynamics in the field
  • Good judgment in problem solving, awareness of own limitations and strong internal motivational essential
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collection of timely and accurate data from study participants
  • Ensuring that all study forms are filled at the field
  • Resolving all forms with discrepancies
  • Attending bi-weekly meetings in time and report on progress of work
  • Reporting surveillance response data regularly
  • Any other assigned/delegated duties by the management
Terms of Employment: One year contract reviewable within six months as per SWAP employment policies.

Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on education, relevant experience and demonstrated competency. The salary scheme is based on SWAP policies.
