Title: Consultant to Support the Implementation of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS4)

Qualified candidates are invited to apply for a Consultancy position to support the implementation of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS4). This Consultancy position will be managed by UNICEF Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation section. The selected consultant will be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to Somalia.

Purpose of the consultancy

The purpose of this consultancy is to implement MICS4 in the three zones of Somalia (Somaliland, Puntland and Central South). The survey will be cross sectional in nature with the three zones of Somalia treated as separate strata, making it feasible to produce statistically reliable estimates at national and zonal level for rural and urban populations for most indicators.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

i) Contribute in the survey preparatory phase activities
ii)Participate in the facilitation of training of trainers sessions
iii)Undertake pretesting of surveys tools and prepare report
iv)Train zonal survey teams
v)Undertake data collection in all three zones of Somalia
vi)Data analysis and reporting
vii)Data archiving and process documentation

Qualifications and experience:

•Advanced University degree in Social Sciences, Demography, Development Planning, Statistics or a related technical field;
•At least 5 years professional work experience in the field of research and analysis relating to programme monitoring and evaluation;
•In-depth Knowledge of human development indicators;
•Familiarity and experience with CSPRO and SPSS data analysis software;
•Previous experience in conducting large scale research in Somalia or similar context an asset;
•A strong sense of adaptability and ability to work in unstable and multicultural environments;
•Good command of both written and verbal English language;
•Good interpersonal communication skills.
•Knowledge of Somali culture and previous experience of work within Somalia will be an added asset
