Vacancy Public Information officer


Position:                      Public Information officer (National)
Location:                    Juba
Duration:                    12 months, 3 months probation period
Reports to:                  Project Manager
SUMMARY: Cesvi, established in 1985, is a secular, independent association, working for global solidarity. In the values which guide Cesvi, the moral principle of human solidarity and the ideal of social justice are transformed into humanitarian aid and development, reinforcing an affirmation of universal human rights. In the acronym Cesvi, the words “Cooperazione e Sviluppo” (Cooperation and Development) underline the fact that Cesvi bases its philosophy on the idea of giving the recipients of aid a leading role, working together for their own natural benefit. It is for this reason that Cesvi is strongly committed to making sure that international aid does not become mere charity, and nor is it influenced by the donors’ self-interest.

CESVI is now seeking a public Information officer  to be based in its Juba Office with occasional field missions.

Job Description

PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER – based in Juba – working on CESVI operations in South Sudan
·         Organise, implement and follow up of awareness campaigns and other activities
·         Organise, implement and follow up of public days
·         Contribute to design strategy for awareness campaigns in Juba
·         Prepare reports on awareness raising campaigns and public events organized in Juba
·         Taking care of visibility of the action by designing leaflets, flyers and any other visibility items
·         Identify venues for open days and awareness raising events
·         Identify community groups and CBO’s to be involved in sensitization and project activities
·         Liaise with community groups and CBO mobilizing them for project activities
·         Liaise with local authorities and obtain permits for organizations of events
·         Any other assignments given by the Project Manager

REQUIREMENTS
·         Secondary Education,
·         Diploma in social studies will be an advantage.
·         Minimum 3 years related working experience in INGOs or minimum 4 years of demonstrable and relevant working experience in private sector.
·         Excellent mobilization skills and sound awareness raising experience
·         Demonstrable experience in working with community groups and in community mobilization
·         Good written and verbal English skills.
·         Diploma and/or certificates  in IT or good  IT skills will be an advantage
·         Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment
·         Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
·         Strong humanitarian commitment and ethic values
