Caritas Nyeri OVC/HCBC Programme Project Co-Ordinator Job in Laikipia, Kenya


The Archdiocese Of Nyeri– Caritas Nyeri is inviting applications for the following position in the FHI (Family Health International) – Caritas Nyeri jointly managed, HCBC Programme. The advertised positions will form a team that will implement the Integrated and comprehensive service delivery program for OVC/HCBC support while addressing the social determinants of health in the larger Laikipia District.

Job Objective

The Programme Co-ordinator will be responsible for overall project management and provide technical and administrative support, ensuring strategic focus, relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. Ensure successful implementation and management of the OVC/HCBC project and will be required to build the capacity of the project staff. He/She will provide sound technical leadership and support in problem solving, key decision making, resource mobilization and management, quality control, technical input and advice as well as planning, executing, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.  He/she shall be an approving authority for all the  undertakings pertaining to the programme.   He/She will work with the partners and relevant Government of Kenya line ministries to ensure OVC/HCBC  Service Delivery to marginalized, vulnerable and underserved population made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. The Programme Coordinator will work with  GOK structures at the County, District and community levels for Sustained improvement of health and well-being for all Kenyans.Resource management: Manage resources for the organization, ensuring adherence to CARITAS’s policy and procedures. Takes responsibility for resource utilization.Staff responsibility: supervise and develop the capacity of staff to undertake assigned roles.  Communications management: work with the Programme Staff to harmonize communications with beneficiaries and CHVs on various issues.Staff Appraisals: Promote 360 degrees staff appraisal and use the results for decision making.Co-ordination of provision of Care and support to OVCs and PLHIVs. Resource Mobilization and sustainabilityEconomic empowerment for income improvement and sustainability.Project Management, Support Supervision, Capacity Building and MentorshipNetworking and partnership developmentMonitoring, Knowledge Management / Documentation and Reporting:Supervision:     Works independently with regular reporting and direction from the director. Directly supervises, M&E officer, field assistants, data management assistants, accountant, office assistant, project driver, JFFL volunteers, SILC Agents. Decision making: makes rational decisions with regard to key responsibilities; seeks and gains consensus with those concerned, ensures that decisions implemented are as per the board of management approvals. Responsibility over data or information: has access to information as regards the project. Is highly informed on project information thus maintains confidentiality where desired.     Responsibility over assets: identifies priorities in accordance with CARITASs strategic approaches and mission, and prudently utilizes organizations assets to fulfill that mission. Responsibility over staff: field assistants, M&E officer, data management assistants , accountants, office assistant, and field assistant including the actions of the project volunteers (SILC agents, CHVs and JFFL volunteers)Job Specifications (Required Minimum Qualifications)

Relevant Experience and Knowledge

At least a Higher Diploma in Sociology, Anthropology, Social work, Nursing, Public Health or other relevant area of study. Have solid working knowledge (practical skills) in the following areas: OVC, HBC, VCT, Counseling, ART, gender issues and social determinants of health.   Experience in dealing with local community structures.At least 3 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS project management with at least 2 years of administrative or managerial responsibility, preferably in an NGO setting.Significant experience in implementing integrated OVC and HIV/AIDS projects will be an added advantage.Key Skills and Personal AttributesProven experience in capacity building and transfer of competencies.Ability to build collaborative relationships within and outside the organization, particularly with Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development (MGSCD); Ministry of Education; and Ministry of Health; Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders. Experience in implementing donor-funded projects. Experience in implementing USAID funded project will be an added advantage.Demonstrated ability to work with various teams and within consortium settings.Good written and  oral communication skillsShould demonstrate above-average Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.A professional with high personal integrity and commitment. A good steward of agency resources.An individual that can work with people from diverse backgrounds.Perfomance Standard for this Position
