PURPOSE

The position holder will lead, manage and be accountable for Plan’s operations in Region of East and Southern Africa (RESA). To provide meaningful leadership and input into Plan’s strategic direction via membership on the Program Operation Leadership Team (POLT)

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead the overall strategic planning, providing directions for the region and contributing to a strategic development and Management of the global organisation
- Actively lead, and support change initiatives related to strategy, organisation, common values, and roll out of new policies as well as ensuring organisational learning
- Ensuring the right people Management, optimizing the organisation, ensuring that people with the right competencies are performing in the right roles, at the right time
- Quality assurance of regional and country strategy
- Manage risk ensuring that Systems and processes are in place to identify, understand risk, as well as monitor and intervene as appropriate to mitigate risk
- Ensure effective acquisition and utilisation of resources
- Ensure compliance ensuring that systems and processes are in place to comply with plans, policies and legal requirements and to monitor and intervene as appropriate
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant institutions in order to support programs as well as making sure that information about the region is available to other parts of the organisation and vice versa

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

- Ideally qualified to University degree or equivalent in a relevant area
- Relevant demonstrated progressive experience in international development, including executive management experience
- A strategic thinker, you will possess strong leadership and organisational development skills, with commitment to quality and continuous improvement
- Ability to work under pressure, solve problems and take decisions in complex and ambiguous situations and delegate authority with responsibility
- Sound knowledge of risk management
- Crisis management
- Adept at planning, organising, influencing and persuading, you will have the capacity to build and work in teams, coach and mentor

LANGUAGES

- Fluency in English required
- French would be considered a plus
