National Volunteer Network Trust (NAVNET) is a Trust registered in Kenya. NAVNET is run by a Board of Trustees. Since 2003, NAVNET has been working through volunteers and in partnership with other organisations in addressing social development issues.

NAVNET in collaboration with VSO Jitolee is implementing National volunteering programme; Volunteer Programme Development and Management (VPDM) course, Volunteer Management Systems (VMS) trainings; Employee Volunteering Programme among others.
NAVNET is also the host of the Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIO) Network Secretariat in Kenya.
The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will lead research; monitoring and evaluation (M&E); change monitoring and impact assessment in regards to all NAVNET programmes and sponsored projects. The person will also be expected to design and develop M&E framework; capture learning; manage knowledge; manage the website and communications; and also research into new areas of work.

The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will report to the Director, and work closely with the Programmes Coordinator and the Administrator. The contract is 1 year, renewable subject to funding availability. Type of role is full time or part-time depending on availability of the person.
The Job
Duties and responsibilities of the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be:
- Documentation of projects and programme outcomes
- Designing of M&E framework and change monitoring tools to assess impact
- Projects monitoring and evaluation (working with programme staff; volunteers and partners to ensure collection of relevant and appropriate data for change monitoring)
- Knowledge management and Management Information Systems development
- Publication of findings; case studies and change stories
- Communication of research findings and project outcomes
- Website maintenance and media relations
- Writing quarterly updates and articles that cover project and programme work
- Research and development of new areas of work or expansion of current work
- Developing and maintaining a directory of NAVNET partners
- Supporting the VIO network coordinator in the production of a directory
You will have:
- University degree in statistics/mathematics; social sciences or related discipline
- At least 2 years experience of monitoring and evaluation of projects
- Strong analytical skills, familiarity with research and scientific data collection methods
- Excellent documentation, writing; editing and communication skills
- Good IT skills – ability to use databases; spreadsheets; statistical packages
- Experience of maintaining and managing a website/management information systems is desirable
- An understanding of socio – economic and development issues and an appreciation of the role of the media in advocacy and development issues
- Creativity; innovativeness; good judgement and a passion to succeed in a volunteer involving organisation
- Ability to handle large volumes of work quickly; accurately; and produce timely quality reports to relevant stakeholders
- Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with staff; beneficiaries; volunteers; youth; consultants; partners and donors
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a multicultural environment
- Fluency in English and Swahili: written and spoken
