Job Summary
The HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) counselor shall be responsible for delivery of high quality HIV testing and counseling services to clients according to the national and international guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Actively participate in community mobilization, awareness and sensitization for HTC services at individual, family and community levels.
? Provide HIV counseling and testing services to both couples and individual clients
? Regularly attend support supervision in accordance with the minimal requirements of the National guidelines for HTC
? Ensure and monitor appropriate referral of clients from CT sites to Care Clinic, HBC, Nutrition
? Maintain appropriate IEC materials/resources necessary for HTC providers and community at large
? Conduct QA and QC activities as per National HTC guidelines in all testing sites
? Maintain confidentiality at all times as per the National Counseling code of ethics
? Ensure accurate HIV activity records are maintained and kept including filling of Ministry of Health 7
? Compile and submit timely and accurate reports to the supervisor by the set deadline date
Qualifications
? Must be a NASCOP/LVCT trained HTC Counselor
? At least two years experience in provision of community work in Turkana
? Trained/experienced in HTC QA and QC
? Training in any other HIV prevention intervention is an added advantage
? Preferably a female candidate
Desired Competencies
? Experience in HIV Counseling and Testing
? Experience in working with Community Based Organization/Faith Based Organizations in Turkana County
? Team player and ready to work in difficult environmental conditions
? Ability to maintain confidentiality
? A recommendation letter from Parish Priest
