Communication Manager Job Vacancy in Nairobi Kenya


Our client, an Africa-wide market development agency, seeks to hire an experienced communication specialist with extensive experience of documentation / coverage of youth and women aspects in Africa.

He/She must demonstrate strong and progressively responsible professional experience in applying state-of-the-art communication practices.

Must have proven ability to conceptualize and manage complex communications operations and demonstrate ability to prioritize critical activities, plan and organize the work in order to achieve set objectives in a timely manner and has the ability to work independently.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop communications strategy, media strategies and communications plans in line with the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Draft key press and communications products for media and broader communications and smallholder-focused events, including key publication launches.
  • Produce background materials, such as media talking points for senior management
  • Develop and implement gender and youth communication strategy within programmes, consortiums, target countries and at the regional levels.
  • Implement the institutional communications strategy and supervise media & communications team and Increase media coverage and understanding of Farm Concern International’s work in Sub-Saharan Africa and partner with core Regional & International journalists (print, broadcast and new media).
  • Identify / Document high-interest stories throughout the Sub-Saharan Africa countries under Farm Concern International implementation.
  • Work with various Farm Concern Intl’ country teams to write stories in a range of styles for dissemination in suitable formats;
  • Organize press conferences, interviews, report / project launches and organize media events and provide outreach support at major events such as organizing displays, designing and producing posters, arranging booths, negotiating with suppliers, selecting and displaying publications, answering questions, and arranging logistics;
  • Produce publicity and outreach materials, including posters, Power Point presentations, brochures and web content;
  • Participate in improving the communication skills of staff;
Qualifications and experience
  • Undergraduate degree Social Sciences/ Communication/ Journalism
  • Masters/ MBA in Communication or Journalism an added advantage
  • At least 5-10 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstrate ability to work in a multicultural environment and Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively and efficiently
  • IT proficiency, including use of graphic design software and Website Management
