Purpose of this role is to provide operational expertise support of Ericsson CS Core networks for 6 MS countries (Multi-vendor MS Network Operations).
The Core Operations Expert proactively plans and performs advanced technical activities requiring knowledge in multiple areas or on a system level to service the customer. Prioritizes work based on customer impact, and brings expertise to customer site on need basis.

Main Responsibility Area
- Identifies and solves proactively complex core network problems and communicates them to key stakeholders.
- Participates as an expert in own technology area in customer projects.
- May support areas by participating in crisis situations.
- Is active in networking and knowledge sharing.
- Develops processes, tools and working methods.
Primary Responsibilities
- Streamline operations and maintenance processes of the core network, including preventive and corrective actions for the Core operations teams in the cluster (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia & Madagascar).
- Harmonization of operational processes across the cluster.
- Monitoring and analysis of the core performance data of the cluster and proactively drive corrective actions through the local core teams.
- Support initial operational transition of the cluster countries through on-site competence transfer, alignment of transitioned core resources to the operational model.
- Manage escalation of technical issues coming from the local opco (cluster) and provide either on-site / off-site support.
- Interface with Ericsson (ELS) support team to manage & close the open operational issues.
- Key interface with Customer (Airtel) group Core team for special projects (e.g. new product / feature / service launch readiness).
- Drive competence management for the country core teams through mentoring & structured OJT programs.
- Develop capabilities of local Core teams for 2nd level fault handling, multi-vendor key interface management & SW upgrades.
- Participate / support in the pilot upgrades.
- Development of O&M Procedures and implementation / Coordination with Process Consultant
Performance Measures
- Problems solved or escalated to the correct group/team
- Core NE’s downtimes decreased, meeting SLAs
- Efficiency improvement in Core O&M processes
- Backup (Fall back / charging files)
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
- 7 – 10 years experience
