Project Manager Job in Naivasha Kenya - Construction Industry job


Project Manager
 
Role
 
The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating the activities of consultants and contractors in a large mixed project in Naivasha involving both infrastructure and buildings. 
He will be deployed as the Principal Project Officer to be based on site and head office. He will report to the Managing Director for day-to-day matters and give periodic reports to the Board of the Company. 
The Project Manager will be employed on an initial contract of TWO years which will be renewed for a further period of TWO years upon a satisfactory report of performance.
 
Responsibilities
 
1. To track and report on the implementation plan for the project by various Contractors
 
2. To establish and run the Site-based Project Management office
 
3. Develop and implement project communication and reporting strategy and plans including communication formats and templates.
 
4. Effectively and constantly communicate project expectations to the Contractors
 
5. Report on Construction progress on an ongoing basis to the Board of Directors of the Company.
 
6. Brief the Managing Director on all matters relating to the project on a frequent and regular basis
 
7. Establish and present to the Board annual budgets for running the Project Management Office.
 
8. Report to the Board on needs for additional staff and make appropriate requisitions for recruitments if necessary during the project cycle.
 
9. Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
 
10. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
 
11. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
 
12. Identify and promote to the Contractors project dependencies and critical paths.
 
13. Plan, schedule and promote project timelines and milestones to the Contractors using appropriate tools.
 
14. Track project milestones and deliverables and negotiate with the Contractors appropriate strategies for their achievement .
 
15. Develop and present progress and status reports.
 
16. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
 
17. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
 
18. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work and roles.
 
19. Conduct activity post-mortems and create a recommendations in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
 
20. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management and promote them to the Contractors and the Board.
Qualification Requirements

1. A University degree in Building Economics/Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or Architecture or Civil Engineering
 
2. Post-graduate qualifications at Masters degree level or Qualifications and Certification as a Project Manager from a recognised body.
 
3. A minimum of 5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity including for a multi-billion project, including all aspects of project process development and execution.
 
4. Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project and Primavera
 
5. Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
 
6. Technically competent with various reporting software programs, such as Microsoft word and excel.
 
7. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
 
8. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analysis and reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
 
9. Flexible during times of change.
 
10. Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
 
11. Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
 
12. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including the Board, contractors, and other stakeholders.
 
13. Ability to defuse tension among project teams, should it arise.
 
14. Strong written and oral communication skills.
 
15. Strong interpersonal skills.
 
16. Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
 
17. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
 
18. Ability to competently participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.

Rural Electrification Authority - Senior Surveyor and Business Development Engineer - Job in Kenya


The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) is a State Corporation established under the Section 67 of the Energy Act, 2006. The primary mandate of the Authority is to accelerate rural electrification in order to promote sustainable development.

The Authority is seeking applications from self motivated and dynamic individuals to take up the following positions:

Senior Surveyor III
MG10 (1 post)

Reporting to the Chief Manager Design, The Senior Surveyor shall have the following responsibilities to ensure quality surveying services for power distribution as per the Authority’s established procedures in order to enhance accurate design:

Duties:
  • Leading survey teams in conducting route surveys
  • Participating in planning and implementation of survey assignments in accordance with policies and standards of the Authority
  • Pegging routes accurately to indicate pole positions on the ground for construction teams to prepare holes
  • Developing mappings of premises for the proposed customers to enable accurate design for system network
  • Updating mains records
  • Supervising the processing of field raw data to enable plan/map & route profiles to be drawn
  • Tracing Preliminary Index Diagrams (PIDS) to show the strip plans on the existing boundary maps from Survey of Kenya for acquisition of wayleaves
  • Safe custody of survey reports, tools and equipment assigned
  • Maintaining accurate survey records
  • Supervising, appraising staff and identifying their development and training needs
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications:

Business Development Engineer

Reporting to the Chief Manager Operation, the Business Development Engineers will be responsible for:

Duties:
  • Processing of application forms
  • Calculation of customer power demand
  • Verification of designated schemes
  • Issuance and approval of quotation letters
  • Overseeing service line payment procedures
  • Approval of supply contract forms and payment of meter deposits
  • Inspection of wiring of premises
  • Processing of all schemes to construction for connection
  • Preparation of project connection reports to management
  • Marketing of REA projects to the beneficiaries
Qualifications:
  • BSc or BCom with a Diploma in Electrical Installation or Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Kenya Railways Corporation Estates Officer Job Vacancy


The Estates Officer will report to the Real Estates Manager.

The position will manage the Corporation’s real estate portfolio for maximum returns.

The specific duties will include:
  • Effective management of assets in the specific region for value maximization,
  • Oversee the collection of rent, preparation of compliance with lease terms and all required property notices,
  • Carrying out rent reviews and letting n the assigned region,
  • Facilitating recovery of outstanding rent arrears and other dues,
  • Monitoring leasing of properties to ensure that they are being leased in accordance with corporation’s policy and annual budget,
  • Perform regular inspections of property, and direct alterations, maintenance and reconditioning of property as necessary,
  • Carrying out rental assessment and valuation of the corporations property,
  • Assisting the real estate’s manager in advising on the best use of properties,
  • Advising finance on timely payments of land rent and land rates plus utility bills,
  • Have a basic understanding of budget preparation and revenue returns,
  • Support the planning budgeting and control of operating expenditures,

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Land Economics,
  • Must be a registered Member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya,
  • 5 years experience, 3 of which must be in supervisory position,
  • An entrepreneurial spirit : can generate ideas and turn them into profitable projects,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Be able to demonstrate a sense of accountability and responsibility,
  • Be highly organized and posses good administrative skills,
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills;

  • Experience working with ERP will be an added advantage.
