Job Objective / Summary
 
Responsible for the production operations in the factory including production plan implementation, resource
utilization and management of performance and output
 
Description of Duties
  • Supervision of the production process and Quality Assurance Systems
  • Requisition of production materials
  • Preparation and assignment of duties to staff in the production floor
  • Ensure that good manufacturing and hygiene practices are followed at all times
  • Participate in product development activities
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety of the workforce is enforced at all times
  • Preparation of the daily production reports

Quality Assurance Manager- Food science Job in Embu Kenya


Our Client, a food processing plant based in Embu, is seeking to fill the position of a QA Manager who will be responsible for the overall supervision of the QC lab, quality control inspection methods and standards, oversight of product testing, troubleshooting quality concerns, validating QC processes and implementing new procedures and technologies.

This person will also assist in the scheduling and training of other employees.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Overall supervision of the QC lab, QC technicians and product quality evaluation
  • Oversee/Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Creation/Maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, Job Descriptions, and other documentation required for plant operations
  • Train others in product characteristics, attributes and Quality Control testing procedures
  • Monitor Production Department’s conformance with QC standards and procedures.
  • Conduct Quality Control training for employees engaged in materials handling and/or production.
  • Interface with KEBS customer personnel during plant audits.
  • Perform in-house audits to ensure that all areas of the plant are in compliance with procedures and regulations

  • Oversee and be accountable for incoming material, in process, and final inspection activities.

Qualifications
  • BS degree in Food Science or related field
  • Over 33 years of age
  • Minimum 5 years of QA supervisory/management experience within a food processing facility
  • HACCP Certified

  • Excellent computer skills and great communication skills

Scope of the job

Nutritionist (MCHN)

Feed The Children-Kenya in partnership with UN World Food Program is implementing a Maternal and Child Health Nutrition (MCHN) Program in Langata and Thika Districts.

We are seeking to recruit for two positions of Nutritionists to be based in Langata and Thika Districts.

This is a nine months contract.

The positions will report to the MCHN Program Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Together with District Nutrition Officer (DNO), come up with a monthly food request for the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) in all Health Facilities.
  • Carry out nutrition program supportive supervision, including On the Job Training to Health Facility staff; and prepare monthly Health Facility supervision report and submit to agency and partner.
  • Thoroughly monitor submission of stock and nutrition indicator reports from all Health Facilities, and be available to assist DNOs with preparation of monthly District stock summary report.
  • Strengthen nutrition education and other High Impact Nutrition Interventions such as Infant and Young Child Feeding and Micronutrient supplementation to healthcare workers, and beneficiaries of the program at Health Facility.
  • Carry out monthly premixing demonstrations of SFP rations to newly recruited beneficiaries at Health Facilities.
  • Jointly with DNO initiate and ensure Health Facility based mother-to-mother support groups are held monthly in the District, be an active participant in these meetings, and disseminate minutes of these meetings to the agency and partner.

Legal Assistant

Working in the Legal Counsel’s office of AATF, the incumbent will be guided by the following

Terms of Reference
  • Assist in the preparation of consultancy contracts for vetting by the Legal Counsel
  • Contract lifecycle management, including sending contracts for signature, monitoring return of completed contracts and submission of contract reports by partners/consultants and following up with managers to obtain contract reports before payment by Finance Department
  • Organising Project Intellectual Property meetings including teleconferences and serve as secretary to such meetings by taking, preparing and sending minutes to the participants
  • Assisting Legal Counsel in managing the AATF Technology and Innovation Support Centre
  • Maintaining and updating the AATF contracts database
  • Updating and maintaining the intranet board folder

Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma in Business Administration and Management. Certified Public Secretary (CPS) and a university degree will be an advantage.
  • Training and experience in contract preparation and intellectual property will be an advantage.
  • She/ he should have a minimum of 3 years experience in similar functions with reputable national or international organisations or law firm.
  • Knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and computer software skills are advantages.

Save the children has an operation in Somaliland, Puntland and South Central Somalia.

Due to constraints on security, and the need to liaise with UN agencies, other NGOs and donors the country office is based in Nairobi and senior managers and directors are expected to travel extensively to monitor and support programme work in all parts of Somalia that are accessible and where security threats are being effectively mitigated.

Save the Children has been engaged in the livelihoods and food security sector in Somalia and Somaliland on and off for many years. However in recent years funding available to this sector has been scarce and internal technical capacity has had to rely on short term consultancy support seeking discreet grants from donors for specific interventions.

The position of Livelihood and Food Security Technical Manager has been newly created in relation to restructuring of Save the Children Somalia’s programme.

The Livelihood and Food Security Technical Manager will provide overall technical management and support to all livelihood and food security projects currently being implemented by Save the Children programme in Puntland and Central South Somalia (CSS). Save the Children is intending to expand its interventions within the sectors in the stated parts of Somalia and Somaliland.

Therefore, the manager will play a pivotal role in promoting and disseminating good practices across projects, documenting and disseminating achievements and lessons learned of projects internally and amongst donors and other key players in Nairobi and elsewhere as applicable, and will seek to expand donors support through development of projects.

UNICEF Regional Adviser, Nutrition Job in Nairobi Kenya


Purpose of the Position

You will support and advise the Regional Director, the Regional Management Team and Country Offices and Governments in developing policies, strategies, programmes and systems for the designated areas of responsibilities, in light of the MTSP priority on Nutrition.

Support development of harmonized regional strategies, analysis of nutrition trends, synthesis and dissemination of best practices in nutrition and capacity development of country teams and partner organisation – in close coordination with the African Union and regional bodies – such as ECSA and SADC.

You will be responsible for providing technical leadership, management advice, and programme support and capacity building to country offices throughout the Region.

Provide UNICEF Nutrition programmes with innovative leadership including expert advice, vision, oversight, knowledge management, articulating policies and strategies, situation appraisal, harmonization of programme strategy, capacity building, support for monitoring and evaluation, representation, networking and strategic partnership creation.

This technical support has to be anchored in the reality of high Stunting burden in the Eastern and Southern Africa region, which is aggravated by prevailing food insecurity and poverty, emergencies due to recurring droughts/floods, conflict and persisting HIV and AIDS pandemic.

As head of the nutrition unit, direct, lead and manage a group of professional and support staff to develop, manage and administer the sectoral or inter-sectoral project/programme.

Key Expected Results

1. Programme policies, strategies, and guidelines for the region are developed and advocated. Regional Director, Deputy Director, the Regional Management Team and Country Offices are advised on policy, strategy and advocacy. UNICEF's regional policy strategy, programme guidelines and advocacy are developed and disseminated to Country Office programme staff.

2. Strategy coordination to facilitate harmonization and implementation of regional and country strategies is formed in collaboration with management at country, regional, and HQ levels as well as key partners. Guidance and support are provided to form strategic alliances with regional and national partners to influence on programme strategy and plan.

3. Up-to-date technical expertise is maintained, expanded and disseminated throughout the Organization, and shared with regional/national institutions/partners.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Within delegated authority, the Vulnerability Assessment and Mapping (VAM) Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Strengthen KCO knowledge base and the understanding of food security and vulnerability issues at country level contributing to a better preparedness and response capacity to protect the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities that are at risk;
  • Supervise food security assessments. Ensure the use of such knowledge to inform WFP decision making and contributes to country level work of government counterparts, civil society organizations, bilateral donors and UN agencies;

Qualifications: Advanced university degree in sociology, economics, agriculture, geography, nutrition, rural development and/or similar relevant discipline.

Desirable: Advanced knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and statistical analysis software. Experience in early warning and remote sensing and familiarity with the speciality software applications associated with them. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative survey techniques.

Experience in the design and implementation of food aid programmes. Some experience in remote sensing interpretation and analysis, NDVI, CCD.

Experience and Skills: At least five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in food security, vulnerability analysis or a closely related area, such as food security information management systems.

Knowledge: Strong knowledge of food security analysis and the data collection, treatment, and manipulation techniques typically associated with it.

Advanced computer skills, including at least intermediate skills in windows based word processing, spreadsheet, database and GIS applications. Working knowledge of basic statistics

Languages: Excellent written and spoken English, good spoken Kiswahili.
