Reporting to the Managing Director
The General Manager will be responsible for maintaining smooth and efficient operations of the company.
 Key responsibilities include:-Develop criteria, procedural manuals and contracts for commercial transportation programs.Ensure relationships of the company with key customers in order to further the company business interests.Optimally manage the company finances in order to sustain the operations while focusing at the interests of the investors in order to reap maximum return on investment.Prepare a long-range strategic plan in marketing, business development and general operations of the organization.Manage and motivate the personnel in order to synergize their efforts towards the company’s targets and goals.Prepare management reports such as proposed tariff increases or schedule.Analyze expenditure and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.Must be an MBA holder, or a Degree in a Management related field.Understanding of the transport and logistical industry.Minimum 5 years experience in the trucking business.Thorough knowledge of the East & Central Africa road network coupled with upto date understanding of cross border regulatory requirements.Outstanding time management skillsDemonstrate a proven track record in developing and driving business strategies.Reporting to the General Manager
The Transport Officer will be responsible for effective running of the fleet and ensuring that laid down standards of service are maintained at all times
Key responsibilities include:-Participate in budget formulation process.Maintain and update vehicle inventory in liaison with the Workshop Manager to ensure seamless service delivery.Manage staff and ensure a high degree of motivation, efficiency and discipline.In liaison with the Workshop manager ensure vehicles and properly maintained.Prepare regular reports on vehicles mileage, fuel consumption, repairs and maintenance thereofMaintenance of the fleet management system and generation of reports.Follow-up proper reporting and documentation of accidents and claims and statutory requirements.University degree from a recognized institutionMinimum 5 years working experience in a commercial environment of which 2 years should be in a similar positionGood customer care and coordinating skillsWell developed communication skills, both written and verbal at all levelsStrong analytical skills, ability to make decisions and to solve problemsAbility to work long and odd hours and meet strict deadlinesReporting to the General Manager
The Workshop Manager will be responsible for the effective running of the workshop and optimal utilization of assets

 The Workshop Assistant Manager will report to the technical Assistant Manager who will be involved in the day to day running of the estate plant and equipment workshop. Candidates should ideally have a degree in Engineering and at least five years experience working in a large workshop facility. Ideally, this experience should be in an agricultural concern dealing with heavy plant and equipment ranging from tractors to agricultural implements and heavy plant. Candidates should have experience of managing a team of technicians, be familiar with standard workshop control procedures and be computer literate.

3. Graduate Engineering Trainees

Chief Engineer

The successful candidate will have the primary responsibility for effective management and control of all engineering and maintenance activities in respect to plant, equipment, infrastructure and social amenities.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the key responsibilities of the Chief Engineer will be to:

Develop the maintenance strategy and plans so as to ensure the continuous availability of assets in line with production plans.In consultation with the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Manufacturing, manage the implementation of the maintenance plans in a manner that ensures timely delivery, cost effectiveness and continuous improvement in respect to operational efficiency and reliability.Develop and control the departmental maintenance and engineering budget in consultation with the Managing Director and the Finance department.Ensure that the section's operations are in compliance with regulatory, technical and corporate standards and procedures, including Safety, Health and environmental sustainability.Take responsibility for generating or reviewing and approving major maintenance recommendations.Continually review engineering operations, work systems, equipment and techniques and activities and generate improvement and modernisation plans.Preside over the effective implementation of the company's Asset Health Care programme.Provide leadership and professional guidance to the entire engineering team so as to embed world class Maintenance Engineering practices.In consultation with the Director of Human Resources, take responsibility for the management of boundaries, easements and leases, in a manner that ensures legal compliance and safeguard relationships with neighbours.Take charge of Energy cost management initiatives, modernisation of all specialist engineering services, including: power generation, project development and civil works.Lead, develop and motivate staff and enforce corporate HR initiatives.BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Minimum of ten years experience in the heavy manufacturing industry, of which at least five years would be at a managerial level.Exposure to electrical and instrumentation maintenance, mechanical maintenance and major projects essential.Registration with Engineers Registration Board.Commercial exposureEffective leadership, communication, interpersonal, organisation and planning skills.Workshop Services Manager

The Workshop Services Manager will have the primary focus of providing effective and efficient workshop and fleet services to agreed standards, budgets and timelines.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the duties and responsibilities of the Workshop Services Manager will be to:

Monitor and control workshop services to ensure that jobs are completed on time and within the budgetPlan materials requirement, liaise with procurement and stores to ensure that materials are available on time while ensuring appropriate levels of inventoryManaging the workshop stock items to ensure optimum availabilityEnsure that the process of scrapping workshop items is in line with Company policyMaintain up to date equipment service records and ensure service schedules are adhered toEnsure that the office and workshop premises are kept to the highest standards of house keeping possibleMaintain the asset register for all machines and vehicles Establish and maintain methods of consistently tracking productivity, efficiency and work qualityManage individual employee performance and effectivenessManage department expenses effectivelyUniversity degree in Engineering. Thursday July 4th - Friday July 5th 2013TechnoServe in collaboration with U.S. based Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) is implementing a project named Solutions for African Food Enterprises (SAFE) with funding from USAID. The objective of SAFE is to increase competitiveness of the African food processing sector to expand availability of affordable and nutritious foods.This will be done through knowledge and technology transfer from volunteer experts from some of the world leading food and equipment manufacturers such as General Mills, Cargill, Royal DSM and Buhler.
In support of the mandatory fortification requirements of the above groups of foods by the Ministry of Health, SAFE is working with relevant authorities and stakeholders (such as Ministry of Health, Kenya Bureau of Standards, public universities and nutrition experts) to carry out a two day training workshop for small and medium processors of the above foods in order to equip them with the theoretical and practical knowhow that will enable them comply with the fortification regulations as required.
We are thus calling for food processors who would like to benefit from this training to send an application nominating one delegate from their company who they propose for the workshop. Training expenses will be covered under SAFE and reservations for the limited slots will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
