Positions: Director of Operations
Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travels to other countries

ACTED Kenya is looking for experienced self driven and self oriented professionals to fill the following posts;
 Director of Operations Under the authority of the Country Director, her/his specific duties will include:Ensure that all standard ACTED worldwide procedures are followedSupervise and support field coordinators and heads of support departments in NairobiEnsure that commitments to international donors are metCreate and introduce country-specific procedures as appropriate for the contexts of interventionEnsure organizational development policy is in place and being implemented to maximize team performanceWork closely with logistics team to ensure systems are in place for procurement, fleet management, asset management, and stock managementWork closely with finance team to follow up on budgets, accounting, and strategic financial planningWork closely with human resources team to ensure that a staff development and capacity building program is in placePerform other relevant duties.Master Level education in a relevant field such as International Relations or DevelopmentExtensive project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training skills) in emergency and/or development programmesAt least 4 to 5 years of working experience in high management position.Ability to train, mobilize, and manage both international and national staffFlexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure;Willingness to work and live in often remote areas under basic conditions;Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office;Advanced proficiency in written and spoken EnglishQualified persons with the required skills are invited to submit their applications accompanied by detailed curriculum vitae detailing three work related referees and contacts to kenya.jobs@acted.org and received on or before 5.00PM on 23 December 2013.Please do not attach any other documents.

ACTED Assessment Officer Job in Somalia

ACTED is looking for professionally confident, self-motivated, experienced and committed team player to fill the above position in Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure appropriate data collection by implementation team/partners in fulfillment of assessment plans and deliverables. Working with the Assessment specialist, manage and direct assessment teams and key stakeholder relationsManage in-country assessment logisticsAssist in the coordination and structure of assessment activities.Facilitate and develop assessment training programsWorking with the assessment team and/or partner staff coordinate monitoring and quality assurance systems are for all assessments ; daily, weekly reporting to assessment specialistDevelop and maintain LNGOs database and network in all regions of Somalia (including their Contact, Sector Specificity, Location) In consultation with relevant staff respond to project information requests from the stakeholders.  Manage and maintain functionalities of REACH mapping centerParticipate in cluster and coordination meetings in Somalia. Submit Meeting minutes to Assessment specialist for review and dissemination.Assist the team with technical outreach, providing guidance based on local priorities and the changing environment.  Draft security reports when needed field staff, Somali Websites, NSP updates, etc).Conduct research as neededLiaise with staff based in Nairobi office, Somalia field officers and implementing partnersTo perform other duties as required.Qualifications/Skills RequiredCommunication skills: Excellent verbal communication skills in Somali with a capacity to negotiate and persuade others to consider new ideas. Strategic Orientation: Is able to feed in the organization’s strategic objectives in the country by providing sound socio-economic and political inputs; as well security. Networking Skills: Easily builds rapport with others.Teamwork Skills: Keeps group up to date on all processes and shares relevant information at all times.Advanced university degree in political science, international relations, international law or related field (in combination with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience); or a First level university degree (in combination with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience) may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in liaison, project management or a similar post. Duties and Responsibilities

To assist Project Manager in engaging communities and contractor for a timely completion of activities;Field supervision of contracted works;Assist Project Manager with providing regular reports;Collect group informationCollection, appraisal & development of project proposals;Monitor the Project activitiesMake weekly reports to be submitted to immediate supervisorCoordination with local government officials and NGOs;Over see activities in East Pokot and Turkana East DistrictAny other duties that may be assigned to him/herA degree in sociology, Project Management, Community Development or a related field Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Reporting to the Administration/HR Officer, her/his specific duties will include:

Welcoming, greeting and directing visitors to their destinations. Receiving phone calls, determining the nature of the calls and directing callers to the appropriate departments Arranging appointments and meetings when requested Filing, records keeping and performing a variety of other office tasksTidying and maintaining the reception areaPerforming other relevant duties such as assisting the fleet officer organizing for cars.A diploma/certificate in secretarial, front office operations, Business management or any relevant field is desirable;Experience/knowledge in receptionist & customer service; Should be computer literate; IT proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;Must have knowledge of office record keeping practices and methods;Must be very pleasant with a warm and outgoing personality;Good written and spoken communications and interpersonal skills; A high level of organizational skills; Precise attention to detail; Ability to multi task.How to apply
