Kituo Cha Sheria is a leading Human Rights and Legal Aid Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) founded in 1973. 

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, self driven and result oriented person to fill in the following position in our organization:-.

Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer 

Ref. KCS/ED/APP 2012
 
The Executive Director (ED) shall be responsible to the Board of Directors for formulating strategic plans and policy proposals as well as directing and co-ordinating the general functioning of the organisation. 

The ED shall also be responsible for implementing action plans as well as reviewing organisational performance against set targets. 

Other duties include fund raising and negotiating grants, representing the organisation in its dealings with external bodies, Secretary to the Board as well as providing effective leadership to maximise employees’ creativity and commitment.
 
Minimum Qualifications and Training: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, with relevant training in human rights, organisational result based management or equivalent qualifications. A masters degree in human rights will be an added advantage.
 
Relevant Experience: Must have been an Advocate of the High Court for a minimum of seven (7) years. 

The successful candidate must demonstrate a track record of success in managing a legal and human rights organisation for a minimum of two (2) years; experience of working with a civil society organisation and knowledge of the NGO sector. 

Candidate must have experience in managing projects and working with community groups and organisations. Experience in donor funding procedures is a critical requirement for the post.
 
Skills: 

Must be proactive with strong communication, interpersonal and influential skills. 

Also must be proficient in using Computers and in possession of a valid driving licence. 

Must be a team player and a team leader with demonstrable success and impact.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Developing strategic management plans and budgets as well as setting targets, monitoring and evaluating organisational performance.
  • Developing and implementing effective organisational operational manuals, including financial accounting, procurement and logistics as well as human resourcesmanagement.
  • Developing appropriate fundraising strategies as well as sustainable alternative revenue sources.
  • Developing appropriate public relations strategies designed to promote KITUO’s image and relations with all stakeholders.
  • Reviewing the operations and results of the organisation and providing periodical reports both narrative and financial to the Board of Directors.
  • Preparing annual reports and filing returns in compliance with statutory requirements.

Lake Victoria North Water Services Board (LVNWSB) is one of the eight Water Services Boards established under the Water Sector Reforms Programme through the Water Act 2002 for the purpose of bringing about efficiency and sustainability in the provision of water supply and sanitation services in the country. 
The Board was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 1717 of 12th March, 2004 and licensed by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) on 11th May, 2007.
 
Lake Victoria North Water Services Board covers seven counties including the entire Western Province and parts of the Rift Valley Province. Geographically, this translates to about 14,000 square kilometers, with an estimated population of about 7,000,000 people.

Lake Victoria North Water Services Board is seeking to recruit a suitable self driven, result oriented and highly qualified individual to fill the position of the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities
 
The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible to the Board of Directors, and shall be the Principal Officer of the Board responsible for the overall leadership and implementation of the Board mandate and aspirations as may be outlined in the performance targets and strategic plan.
 
Job Profile
  • Carrying out day-to-day business of the Board to ensure that departments, sections and units conform to the overall operations plans and performance targets.
  • Providing overall leadership and overall administration of the operations of the Lake Victoria North Water Services Board under the guidance of the Board.
  • Developing short term corporate strategies, for Board of Directors approval, for effective implementation of the strategies stipulated in the Board’s Strategic Plan;
  • Managing internal multidisciplinary teams and external parties to ensure set objectives are achieved.
  • Developing performance standards together with mechanisms for ensuring compliance therewith by Water Service Providers.

  • Developing networks and partnerships with development partners and spearhead donor collaboration, fund raising and project development within the Board’s area of jurisdiction.
  • Advising the Board of Directors on expansion of business operations, investment planning and sustainable development of water service facilities.
  • Directing and coordinating the Board’s operations and administration so as to ensure that the various organs of the Board operate in conformity with the overall operational plans and performance targets;
  • Advising the Board of Directors concerning future activities of the Board and also on the objectives and policies while eliminating any form of risks which would affect the smooth management of the organization.
  • Ensuring compliance with Government’s policy and regulatory guidelines and directives.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline from a recognized university and be a registered member of ERB or relevant professional body where applicable;
  • A Masters degree in Engineering or Water Sciences, or Business Management/ Administration will be an added advantage;
  • Should have at least ten (10) years of experience in a Water and Sanitation Sector, and at least 5 years in Senior Management position;
  • Should have undergone a Corporate Governance/Leadership Course in a recognized institution;
  • Should have experience of implementing donor funded projects;
  • Should have track history of integrity, creativity, innovation, self drive and result orientation.
  • Should have exceptional visionary leadership and negotiation skills with capacity to engage with local, regional and international organizations:
  • Should have excellent communication and presentation skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and team capacities and high professional ethical standing.
  • Should be self-driven and capable of working under minimum supervision;

Job Requirements
* Must be a Kenyan citizen.
* Must be in possession of Commercial Helicopter Flying License (CPL) or above.
* Minimum 1000 hours Gas Turbine helicopters.
* Minimum of 100 hours in Bell helicopters.
* Must be ready to cope with off base field operations.
* Must be in possession of minimum academic qualification of KCSE –C+ or “O” level KCE – Div. II.
* Must be ready to undertake a mandatory paramilitary conversion course if not an ex-uniformed officer.

Leadership

  • Responsible for participation and compliance with all TNS corporate processes such as the annual planning process, attendance at the annual CD meeting, preparation of Program Status and pipeline reports and overseeing the correct and complete updating of the core indicator database.
Knowledge & Expertise:
  • Advanced degree in business, economics, agriculture or related field with 10-15 years solid professional experience with progressively higher levels of responsibility
  • A minimum of 2 years experience leading a business unit or large-scale project with responsibility for all aspects of operations
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in a developing country, preferably in east or southern Africa.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, motivate and lead a diverse team to achieve results
  • Proven capacity to represent your organization among a diverse range of stakeholders and to fundraise effectively
  • Clear evidence of operations management and administration skills
  • Strong diplomatic skills to support effective work with government, implementing partners and donors
  • Prefer private sector experience and entrepreneurial skills
  • Strong analytical as well as oral and written communications skills a must
  • Fluent reading, writing, speaking and computer literacy skills in English

Responsibilities

Program Management and Staff Supervision

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works at the crossroads of livestock and poverty, bringing high-quality livestock science, communications and capacity building to bear on poverty reduction and sustainable development.

ILRI seeks to recruit an Executive Assistant to the Director General. The purpose of this job is to provide professional support and assistance to the Director General by coordinating the day to day management of the Office of the Director General (DG) and proactively support the DG in management of his work plan and time.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the DG’s annual work plan: assist with monitoring and updating;

Essential Job Duties: 

Leadership, Governance & Management

  • Supervise the Regional Accountant and Regional Grant/Compliance Officer to ensure that financial systems and reports have integrity.

Communication & Reporting
  • Ensure that programs and country offices deliver the necessary written, oral, and visual input for use by Resource Development to promote the work of World Concern.
  • Foster effective communication throughout the organization by keeping relevant people in the know; sharing information transparently, appropriately and in a manner that engenders trust and goodwill. Ability to keep things appropriately confidential.

Networking, Donor and Public Relations
  • Develop a growing inter-agency networking strategy leading to increased opportunities for partnership and program funding
  • Represent World Concern as the primary contact in Africa for partnerships, organizational memberships, UN, US Government and other key relationships
  • Facilitate networking and partner relationships to expand WC Africa donor base resulting in increased locally raised funding sources for all programs.
  • Assure effective collaboration with fund-raising conducted out of the US by Crista and WR donor relations and marketing.
Essential Qualifications: 

1) Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field. Master’s Degree in development, leadership or other relevant field is desirable

2) Minimum 7 years management experience in relief and development with at least 3 years in a senior management role. Must have extensive experience managing US Government funded programs. Prior experience working in conflict or post-conflict settings is a must. Significant experience living and working cross culturally. Proven ability to write quality program proposals. Successful at fundraising across a broad spectrum of donors.

Reporting directly to the Governing Council, the CEO will head the Secretariat and oversee
