The Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya / Djibouti Programme is seeking to recruit a Kenyan national for the following position, to be based at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.

Area Coordinator (AC)

The Area Coordinator will report directly to the Country Representative or the person designated by him/her.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsible for representation, coordination and supervision of refugee and host community projects in the Turkana Region. Act as the official representative for LWF program in the Region.
  • Responsible for the overall management of programs, financial, administration/ human resources and safety.
  • Coordinate with United Nations organizations, Government of Kenya, national and international NGOs, the refugee and host communities to promote a coordinated approach in programming.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of all LWF personnel, assets and equipment in the Region.

Professional Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Advanced University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Political Science or a related field.
  • At least 4 years experience at management level in an international humanitarian organization, preferably in a refugee or Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) settings.
  • Professional training in M&E and/or Project Management.
  • Strong representation, negotiation and coordination experience gained from working with UN organizations, government, community leaders, and national and international NGOs.
  • Excellent computer skills.

They will also support strengthening of community and facility linkages to enable at-risk populations’ and MARPs’ access to high quality medical and nonmedical support including VMMC services.

  • Minimum C in KCSE and/or diploma in social work
  • At least 2 years Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention and counselling services
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Program Assistants
2 Positions

The Program Assistant is responsible for high quality program activity implementation to include community mobilization, training, community partnership liaison, data capture and reporting.

The job holder will be expected to continually observe the day-to-day effectiveness of programme delivery, noting and reporting any areas where improvements are possible.

The 2 positions will be based in Machakos and Naivasha with significant travel to the field.

Key Responsibilities

    * Implement core program and cross cutting activities as per the work plan
    * Organize and conduct community based trainings
    * Manage and keep warm community based partnerships
    * Identify project beneficiaries and as needed, collect evidence of program impact from the beneficiaries

Person Specifications and Competencies

The right candidate will have a minimum of a relevant first degree from a recognized university with at least a year of demonstrated experience implementing development projects, preferably with a local NGO and should have experience of directly working with communities.

He must be able to speak the local language in the area of posting and should be proactive in thinking

He/she should be aware of Child Protection issues and be a person of high integrity that will model Build Africa’s core values.

East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) Project Jobs in Kenya


East Africa Dairy Development (EADD) Project is a dairy industry development program funded by Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation and is being implemented by Heifer International in partnership with International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Techno Serve, ICRAF and ABS-TCM.

The program long term goal is to assist thousands of small-holder farmers in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda to lift themselves out of poverty and hunger by increasing the productivity and profitability of their farms. EADD is seeking to fill the vacancies of:

1. Regional Compliance Manager

The Regional Compliance Manager will report to the Regional Director and be accountable to the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) management team. The CM will work together with senior management team to plan, implement and monitor programs and support functions in order to ensure an efficient internal control system within EADD Regional, Country offices in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda and EADD partner operations.

The position holder will also support the Regional office in ensuring that financial information reported to the donor, head office, local government and other stakeholders is accurate and that systems are in compliance, work in liaison with the Finance team to build capacity of staff and ensure all units are managing risk appropriately.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business Administration, Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) qualification, with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • MBA would be an added advantage.
  • High level proficiency in latest Microsoft windows including Ms Word, Excel, Power Point and Accounting packages.
  • Prior experience in audit with International organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Auditing Standards (GAAS). Extensive knowledge about donor rules and regulations, ability to work in a multidisciplinary culture.
  • Analytical, ability to multitask and give attention to details.
2. Regional Gender and Youth Coordinator

The position holder will report directly to the Regional Director. The Regional Gender and Youth Coordinator will work together with Country teams to plan, budget, implement and monitor “out-of-the-box” Youth and Women targeted enterprise programs. The office holder will strive to ensure that project activities, outputs, impacts, outcomes and incomes are equitably distributed to benefit women and youth.

Qualifications
  • A post graduate degree in Gender and Development, Anthropology, Rural Development, Sociology, Agricultural Sciences, Agri-business or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in gender, agriculture and rural development, including demonstrated expertise in economic empowerment of disadvantaged communities; gender research and analysis; development, promotion and rollout of gender-linked products/services.
  • Previous experience working with microfinance, agri-business development, and community enterprise development will be an added advantage.
  • The candidate must be a team player and have proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse group of people.

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands
  • Ability to travel within the region and possibly internationally, working with constant, unscheduled interruptions.
  • Managing and executing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone, e-mail, instant messenger.
  • Both positions will be based at the Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
