AMREF FINISH INK Project Coordinator Job in Kenya


We are recruiting a coordinator for the FINISH INK “Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation and Health in Kenya. This is a Public Private Partnership for Sustainable Sanitation which focuses on ensuring maximum financial inclusion among communities in Kilifi and Busia Counties. The project is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, MFIs (KWFT and KRep), WASTE, AMREF in Netherlands and Kenya SNS Asset Management, Goodwell Investment, Social Equity Foundation and United Nations University, Maastricht UNU-MERIT, with funding from the Dutch Government. The Project Coordinator is a key position reporting to the Project Director (WASTE) with a critical role to play in accomplishing project objectives.
We are looking for individuals with proven experience in dealing with higher echelons of government departments and development agencies and experience with sanitation and / or micro-finance. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, excellent knowledge of English and Kiswahili besides exemplary computer literacy skills. She/He should possess a University degree in Natural /Social Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Business Administration or related fields with a minimum 10 years experience working in / with communities.

AMREF Kenya is looking for well organised, highly motivated and results oriented individuals to join a dynamic team and help bring lasting health change in Africa under the Child and Reproductive Health Programme with funding from Comic Relief and DANIDA.

The projects will be implemented in Makueni County and Samburu, Turkana, Marsabit, Isiolo and Wajir Counties) respectively. These projects will focus on maternal, newborn and child health interventions working in collaboration with Ministries of Health.

AMREF is seeking to fill two positions of M&E Officer.

The position under the DANIDA funded programme is based in Nairobi, while that funded under Comic Relief is based in Makueni. Both report to the Project Manager.

AMREF National Wash Alliance Coordinator Job in Nairobi Kenya

The Kenya WASH Alliance (KWA) is forum set up by NGOs dealing with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) issues for purposes of collaboration, sharing of experiences and advocacy.

KWA in partnership with the Dutch WASH Alliance (DWA) are initiating a five year WASH Programme in Kajiado County. This programme is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Services (MFS) under its MFS 11 Programme of the Netherlands Government.

The objective of the programme is to reduce poverty through improved environmental health and economic conditions by empowering people, and creating an enabling environment aiming at achieving increased sustainable access to and use of safe water and sanitation services and improved hygiene practices for the local community particularly women and marginalised groups.

For effective coordination of activities, the KWA will establish a WASH Secretariat. The secretariat will be governed by a National Steering Committee comprising of six implementing partners.

KWA is looking for a well organised, highly motivated and results oriented individual to join the WASH teams and coordinate the delivery of programme objectives, in the position of Alliance Coordinator. The position reports to the National Steering Committee and is based in Nairobi.

Purpose of the Job

Liaison with other WASH actors to coordinate actions, share experiences and develop joint coherent approaches for sustainable WASH programming in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement and monitor MFS II funded Kenya WASH Alliance joint Project activities
  • Lead the participatory development of joint project strategies and detailed designs of project activities
  • Lead in the development and monitoring of work plans and budgets for joint activities

Purpose of the job

Provide support to all aspects of the human resources function by ensuring the availability of a competent and well-motivated staff throughout the Country Program in line with our policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the interpretation and implementation of AMREF HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in manpower planning and staffing within the country program.
  • Co-ordinate staff induction, probation and annual performance management.
  • Support training and development activities including planning and delivering within the Country Program.
  • Provide support in the administration of staff provident fund.
  • Assist in administration of short term employment payroll and benefits.
  • Assist in ensuring AMREF’s compliance with all national legal and statutory requirements for the management of its HR resources.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • The ideal candidate should have a first degree and a diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Minimum two years relevant work experience in human resources in a busy environment.
  • Working knowledge of HRMIS will be an added advantage.
  • Must have detailed understanding, knowledge and experience of HR functions and labour laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people.

Stationed in Nairobi, and reporting to Corporate IT Manager, the IT Officer will be responsible of timely and effective designing, maintaining, implementing and securing quality IT infrastructure to required corporate standards for AMREF Headquarters, country and national offices.

Key responsibilities
• Performing infrastructure/software design/development to ensure compatibility and operationally with AMREF’S LAN and WAN requirements;
• Implementing adequate system security (on a Security and Acceleration server) and hardware (CISCO PIX firewall) for AMREF’s client/server environment and monitor performance;
• Providing technical support and trouble-shooting for installed servers, including implementation of disaster recovery plans and prepare standard procedures for monitoring servers, and ensure that
they are fully operational;
• Participating in the definition, designing, testing and implementation of new Information Technology (IT) hardware and software standards for AMREF based on user requirements and in accordance with the strategy and direction. Resolve any Hardware (PCs, Routers, switches, Servers & PABX) Configuration related problems. Test and configure all new equipment, particularly notebooks, desktops, and servers, to ensure compatibility with AMREF requirements and standards;
• Undertaking unexpected and regular ICT support visits and on-site follow-ups;
• Coordinate the production of Technical Instruction materials for Technical and User Support and ensure the documentations are kept up to date;
• Providing comprehensive and effective IT help desk services to staff members;
• Supervising equipment preventive maintenance and carry out a regular evaluation of current hardware/software in order to provide a timely replacement schedule or upgrade and
• Develop staff ICT skills

Qualifications, experience and skills
The ideal candidate will have a first degree in IT or related discipline. S/he should be a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Associate with six years working experience
in a network environment infrastructure. In addition, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and facilitation skills.
