Background: The International Training and Education Center on health (I-TECH), based in Seattle at the University of Washington, was established in 2002. I-TECH undertakes activities that increase human and systems capacity for provision of HIV/AIDS clinical care and support. I-TECH Kenya works with the Ministry of Health and other funded partners to develop the capacity for the implementation and use of electronic health information systems in Kenya. This is an initiative within the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief supported scope for health informatics activities in Kenya.Mission: The Kenya office is committed to providing technical assistance and support for the development of capacity for the use and maintenance of Electronic Medical Record Systems in Kenya. 
The office works in close collaboration with the Kenya Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, the US Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention - Global Aids Program (CDC/GAP).Position Summary: International Training and Education Centre for Health (I-TECH) University of Washington, is funded by CDC to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the implementation of Health Information related activities. We operate using a Technical Assistance / Technical Support model that aims at addressing MoH priorities while building capacity within the MoH. The candidate should preferably have a background in health (nurse, clinical officer or health records officer) or have an equivalent work experience on use of EMR systems. The successful candidate will be part of the team delivering training, monitoring the implementation and use of EMR system and also ensuring user certificationMentorship monitoring and maintaining a comprehensive list of all mentors and their current facility(s) that they support.Coordinating with regional staff to undertake capacity-building activitiesRoutinely (monthly / quarterly) coordinating with the mentors to provide progress reportsProvide a central point of contact and referral network connecting mentors as is appropriate or beneficialProviding a central point of contact with partners for routine news relating to capacity building, updates, or other informational contactsCollaborating regularly with field staff on ways to achieve more effective solutions to user problemsStaying up to date on application releases and enhancementsParticipating in system upgrades, fixes and enhancementsMaintaining a web page of Kenya EMR status, upcoming upgrades, the latest news and information, and a list of future enhancementsParticipating in system testing process for new functionality or system upgradesMonitoring the hotline and Trouble Ticket system (currently Redmine) on a regular basisReviewing trouble tickets that have been reported, responding or escalating issues as requiredNote: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Consultancy Work for the Upgrade of an Existing Electronic Medical Records ( EMR) System

I-TECH, University of Washington and ICAP, Columbia University are collaborating to upgrade C-PAD, an Electronic Medical Records System currently implemented in multiple health facilities across Kenya. 

This upgrade is aimed at ensuring that CPAD meets the requirements defined in the MoH EMR Standards and Guidelines document.
The upgraded CPAD will run as a Web Application on the OpenMRS Data Model
This Consultancy will be to provide technical and development resources for a specified period.a) An upgraded C-PAD EMR system meeting the requirements defined in the Kenya Standards and
Guidelines document for EMR systems.
b) The system will be able to support the comprehensive HIV care services provided by ICAP and meet MoH reporting requirements.
c) A System specifications document.
d) Technical and user documentation.
 Demonstrated experience in software development.Demonstrated experience in the development of Web Applications.Good understanding and ability to work with the OpenMRS data model.Good understanding of the Kenya Health Sector. Experience in development for the health sector will be an added advantage.
