icipe is an intergovernmental organisation funded by government aid agencies, UN organisations and private foundations to carry out research and training in the environmentally sound and sustainable management of arthropods for improving health and agricultural productivity in the tropics. icipe has approximately 300 staff to support its research and capacity building programmes, located at various sites in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.
icipe seeks to recruit a young and highly motivated Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) to work in the Animal Health Division on a 2 year project on development and validation of tsetse repellent technologies.
The position is based at the icipe Headquarters in Nairobi with frequent travel to neighbouring countries for field work. Position is available from 1st August 2010 for two years. Extension will be possible depending upon availability of funds.

Requirements
- Possession of a PhD degree in entomology or medical entomology or vector biology and ecology obtained from a recognized University within the last two-three years.
- Field experience in working with tsetse is an added advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment with biological research scientists, extension specialists and Government and private sector
- Ability to interact effectively with communities during field work.
- Ability to undertake capacity building at all levels.
- Ability to learn new techniques and mentor students.
- A track record of publications and report writing.
- Have leadership skills
- Driving license a must with proven accident free driving
