The Kenya Education Staff Institute (KESI) is the capacity building agency of the Ministry of Education.
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following positions:
Deputy Director (Capacity Building Programs)

Responsible to the Director for:
- Provide management leadership for planning, implementing and monitoring the capacity development agenda, and ensure that this agenda is aligned with the institute’s strategic direction;
- Support processes to ensure that capacity building activities contribute to maximizing the desired outcomes and impacts;
- Ensure coordination and maximum synergies across Capacity Building Programs and across projects;
- In the context of the ongoing reengineering of KESI, provide leadership in the development of the capacity development programs of the new KESI;
- Advocate and advance KESI’s capacity building agenda and overall positioning with key stakeholders and in international meetings and fora;
- Contribute to the effective management of resource mobilization activities including proposal writing for new funding.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Essential qualifications and competencies include:
- Masters degree in Education Management or equivalent qualification.
- PhD in Education Management or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage
- 5-10 years of experience in capacity building programs. Ability to use Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) methodology will be an added advantage
- A distinguished record of achievement and innovation, including in publications on management issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus and manage conflict.
- Demonstrated competency in managing people and other resources effectively
- Computer literate.
National Management Trainers

Responsible to the Deputy Director/Training for:
- Design, develop, deliver capacity development programs in management
- Maintain standards and participate in monitoring and evaluation of capacity development programs
- Prepare materials, resources and monitoring tools for capacity development programs
- Participate in capacity development surveys and assist in the investigation of potential project areas and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Initiate and co-ordinate management consultancy projects of the institute.
- Report writing for donor and organizational requirements as well as proposal writing for new funding.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Essential qualifications and competencies:
- Master degree in education administration or management-related field
- Bachelor degree in the relevant field
- Minimum of three years of work experience in carrying out capacity building activities. Ability to use Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) methodology will be an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Good computer skills to include Internet, Word, Excel, data-base.
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
- In depth knowledge of and insight into the priorities and functions and practices of the Ministry of

Terms and conditions:
This are KESI Council recruited positions for which KESI offers a basic salary, medical insurance and leave provisions. The initial contract period will be for three years, subject to a probationary period of twelve months.
