| Responsibilities The  United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in  Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We  support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)  and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as  other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and  information services (www.unon.org). These two posts are located in the  Division of Administrative Services, Security and Safety Section/UNON.  Under the supervision of the Chief, Security and Safety Section the  incumbent will perform the following duties; (1) Provide leadership to  the team; Giving daily work instructions to the Assistant Team Leader  and to the members of the team; Ensuring that the team members are  provided with uniforms and communication equipment; Monitoring posts to  ensure that duties are properly executed and rotating officers between  posts; Organizing the team responses in cases of emergency; Assigning  team members to special tasks as directed.(2) Enforce the overall safety  and security in the complex by ensuring appropriate security and safety  rules and procedures are being adhered to; Supervising the work in the  Control Room and ensuring that electronic surveillance equipment is  correctly monitored; Discusses reports of initial investigations with  Team members and investigators. (3) Co-ordinate activities of the team  with the Deputy Chief and Assistant Chief of the Security and Safety  Section; Reports daily to the Deputy Chief and Assistant Chief on  events; Present periodically reports on all cases which have been  investigated; Make recommendations on planning and improvement of the  security work.(4) Responsibility for the security of the complex during  period of duty.(5) Respond to general questions concerning the security  and safety of the complex.(6) Perform other duties as assigned.

| QUALIFICATIONS | 
| Education
 Completion of secondary  school education or equivalent.
 | 
| Work  Experience
 Minimum 5 years experience in the National  Police Force or Military Service. Minimum three years United Nations  Security and Safety Service experience.

| Languages
 English  is the working language of the duty station. For this post fluence in  English and Kiswahili are required to facilitate communication with  local staff and visitors. Knowledge of a second official UN language is  an advantage.

| Other Skills
 Certified  knowledge or sound experience in handling firearms. Qualification in  first aid training is an asset.
