Legal Officer Job in Kenya - Insurance Company

A leading general insurance company is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:

Title: Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Giving legal advice and opinions on claims involving third party injuries or material damage
• Overseeing and ensuring provision of efficient services from external lawyers
• Negotiating out of court settlements on third party claims and recoveries
• Drafting and reviewing legal documents
• Advising the management on the appropriateness or otherwise of legal proceedings or alternative ways of dealing with legal matters
• Liaising with and appointment of lawyers, doctors and investigators
• Claims cost management

Person Profile

• A university law graduate and advocate of the High Court of Kenya
• At least 30 years of age
• At least 3 years experience in civil litigation or similar position with a general underwriter
• Well developed Information technology skills
• Insurance qualifications would be an added advantage
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable with high level of integrity
• Ability to build and motivate a team
