Web and Social Media Editor, Kenya
Closing Date: Wednesday, 04 May 2011... Child centered development organization Plan International, Region of Eastern and Southern Africa (Plan RESA) seeks an experienced professional for the position of Web/Social Media Editor.
Job responsibility
 Maintain and update the Plan RESA website, http://www.plan-international.org/, maintain the highest quality of editorial standards, relevance and timeliness.
 Research, write, edit and enhance editorial and communications materials for use on Plan RESA web pages. Maintain site editorial calendar. Update and maintain the Plan RESA blog to reflect relevant current news and ensure correct framing and consistency of Plan messaging.
 Manage and maintain Plan RESA’s points of integration with program countries web sites and digital initiatives. 
Manage Plan RESA̢۪s social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. Work to identify appropriate content for these pages and to increase the number of followers and interactions generated by them.
 Work with the communications team and staff to develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies.
The incumbent will be based at the Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, with occasional travels to program country offices. This position will be administered under the local terms and conditions.
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes and Skills required
 At least 3 years’ experience in writing for, editing and maintaining web sites.  Experience in image editing skills.  Experience of using social media or managing online communications and understanding of principles behind social media and other potential to deliver interactive communications.  Experience or interest in the charity or development sector desirable.  Experience of still and video editing preferred.  Good verbal communications skills – able to explain complex issues in clear simple language.  Able to prioritize tasks and to meet deadlines.
