Accountant – Account Receivable Job in Kenya - Manufacturing Company



Our client is a reputable company in the manufacturing industry. The client urgently needs to fill the position of an Accountant – Accounts Receivable.

The successful candidate’s principal purpose will be effective credit management in line with company policies, procedures and objectives. This is a junior level position.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinates, directs and guides the operations of the Accounts Receivable section.
  • Facilitates the maintenance of the customer master files to ensure complete, accurate and up to date information on the company’s customers.
  • Manages Credit Control and ensures that customers adhere to the credit policy
  • Prepares and circulates the monthly debtors’ reports for the Commercial businesses
  • Prepares quarterly trade debtors provision schedules
  • Reconciles the trade debtors control accounts and analyses other non-trading debtors accounts monthly.
  • Ensures that proper filing practices are maintained to ensure the safe custody of, and easy access to all accounting documents generated by the Accounts Receivable section.
  • Ensures compliance with the Accounts Receivable month-end cut-off procedures.
Qualifications
  • First degree, preferably in business
  • Recognized professional accounting qualification
  • Debt management is a prerequisite
  • 3 years experience in a busy finance environment
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment

Childline Kenya is a local non-governmental organization registered, and working in Kenya to protect and promote a culture of children’s and human rights.

Childline Kenya provides a 24-hour toll-free helpline for children and young people in difficult situations to access essential services such as trauma counseling, medical services, legal services, temporary and permanent placement among others through a network of partners.

Purpose: The Accounts Assistant will provide book keeping services to Childline Kenya and assist the Finance and Administrative Officer to provide financial support services to entire Childline Kenya team and ensure timely implementation of programs.

The Specific duties include:-
  • The incumbent will be responsible for the Childline Kenya’s cash book transactions.
  • Preparation of vouchers and other cash based payments and disbursements.
  • Responsible for disbursement of cheques.
  • Preparing the Local Purchase orders, and supplier bid forms
  • Responsible for finance office documents filing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualification & Experience
  • Candidate should posses CPA I & II.
  • Have a good understanding of project accounting and general NGO financial management procedures.
  • Have minimum 3 years experience in a similar or related position with a reputable organization
  • Computer literacy in MS Suite and basic accounting packages. Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting package will be an advantage.

Epicentre Regional Data Manager Job in Nairobi Kenya



Epicentre is a non-profit organization created in 1987 by Médecins Sans Frontières, which groups health professionals specialized in public health and epidemiology. In 1996, Epicentre became a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Research in Epidemiology and Response to Emerging Diseases.

Context

MSF France has developed 4 HIV/AIDS programs in 3 African countries: Kenya, Malawi and Uganda. Each project follows between 3000 patients for the smallest project and 27000 patients for the largest project. 60 to 80% of the followed patients have initiated ART.

Many challenges are faced by the project: large number of patients, provision of services for prevention of HIV transmission from the mother to the child and management of TB/HIV co-infection in the context of decentralization for some projects.

Since the initiation of ART, MSF projects have been collected data in a prospective and standardized manner using the FUCHIA software created and maintained by Epicentre.

Function and position

The regional data manager is part of the Epicentre’s Clinical Research Department, will report to the regional epidemiologist based in Nairobi and liaise with the referent of HIV Monitoring and Evaluation for monitoring and data management issues based in Epicentre Paris.

In Nairobi, the Regional Data Manager will be placed under the authority of MSF-France Head of mission for administrative, logistics and security matters.

The position is based in Nairobi and requires regular trips to the 4 fields where MSF operations take place. The position involves approximately 50% of the time spent on the field providing direct technical support to the projects.

To the benefit of the MSF-France HIV/AIDS programs in Kenya, Malawi and Uganda, the regional data manager will
  • provide technical support to the field for data management and data quality assurance
  • provide technical support for routine reporting
  • review of current EMR systems in the region
Duties and Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

The Regional HIV/AIDS Data Manager will assure and monitor that compliance with the highest scientific, ethical and regulatory standards is maintained in all HIV/AIDS field related data collection, handling and reporting activities.

In terms of technical support to the fields, the post holder will work closely with medical and field coordinators to ensure smooth integration and coordination of data handling activities.

1. Technical support for data management and data quality assurance (50% - 60%)

The different components of HIV/AIDS programs will be systematically addressed: adults and pediatric HIV patients, PMTCT, TB co-infection, nutrition. The tasks will be adapted to the needs of each site.

a. Evaluate and improve the information filing system in the projects

b. Provide support to ensure data completeness and quality by

i. Evaluating regularly data integrity and completeness

ii. Developing standardized procedures for data collection

iii. Developing data quality checks and procedures for data cleaning at site level

c. Assess the needs of national staff in terms of training / retraining

d. Conduct training adapted to the staff needs

e. Review/assess the needs in human resources allocated for monitoring and data management activities every 6 months, based on workload

2. Technical support for routine reporting (15-20%)

a. Assess the need for data queries and routine reporting at site and coordination level;

b. Issue recommendations to smooth reporting process;

3. Electronic Medical Record Evaluation (20-35%)

a. Visit HIV programs with EMR systems in the region

b. Provide bi-annual review of the EMR system

c. Attend meetings related to EMR development in the region

Selection criteria

Experience
  • Extensive experience in data management using large databases
  • Three or more years of experience in :
  1. Supporting electronic medical record/M&E data systems through data entry, data management and quality assurance
  2. Design and implementation of standardized data collection and validation procedures
  3. Supervision of data entry / data filing staff
  4. Training in data management/data handling, development and implementation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Educational Qualification Bachelor’s Degree-Graduate Degree (BA, BSc, BCom) – Preferred: Master degree in field related to Development, Information Management
  • Knowledge of statistical or programming software
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and strong management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel often internationally on short notice (50% of the time)
  • English (oral and written) required – French competency a plus

FAWE Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Officer Job in Nairobi Kenya

To increase funding of Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) from different of sources, provide technical assistance in resource mobilization to National Chapters and build lasting and beneficial partnership for FAWE.

Key Responsibilities

Partnerships
  • Manage a partnership strategy that optimizes relationships with partners that are key to advancing FAWE’s Strategic Plan
  • Develop a strategy and advice the EC and GA on the methodology and benefits of having FAWE representation in regional and international bodies such as CSOs and the RECs
  • Provide technical support to National Chapters to develop country-specific partnership strategies and to expand their capacity to participate effectively in partnerships
  • Responsible for the submission of reports to partners in accordance to the agreed terms between FAWE and the partner
  • Identify, research, build and maintain satisfactory relationships with partners at the regional and international levels
  • Represent FAWE in both external and internal partnership meetings and forums
  • Collaborate with the Communications Unit to develop marketing and communications materials of FAWE to prospective partners
  • Ensure that the engagement of partners maximizes funding and impact potential for FAWE and that FAWE staff follow/implement these partnership strategy
  • Establish and oversee a structure that monitors partnership relationships (e.g. reviews, MOUs, etc)
Resource Mobilization
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy to strengthen and expand donor support into a strong, steady, consistent source of revenue
  • Develop and design a sustainability strategy for FAWE to ensure a profit generating structure
  • Develop a private sector fundraising and partnership plan and be responsible for the overall implementation of this plan
  • Develop and maintain a donor database including contact details, areas of interest/objectives, funding and contractual modalities, and formats
  • Research, approach and negotiate support from new funding partners such as grants, in-kind contributions, event sponsorship, pro bono services etc
  • Maintain and develop relations with existing members of FAWE’s Donors’ Consortium
  • Conduct market research and marketing initiatives to assess priorities and identify new opportunities for resource mobilization
  • Research and analyze donor calls for funding applications and request for expression of interest proposals
  • Identify and justify project possibilities in connection with donor priorities and funding opportunities
  • Develop and establish standards for proposal writing and concept notes to secure resources
  • Develop a capacity building programme to empower National Chapters to enhance resource mobilization and support them to mobilize funds from in-country donors
  • Prospect key markets for potential fundraising targets

Job Requirements

Education
  • Masters Degree in Business Communication, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in building partnerships between NGOs, Multilateral and Bilateral and corporate
  • 5 years experience in fundraising from donors, especially private industry
  • Extensive international experience
  • Skilled in identifying strategic opportunities and develop plans to pursue them
  • Have high energy, confident presenter who is able to engage people and get them to commit funding/and or to partnering with FAWE
